Extremely rude lady that picked up the phone. I can’t remember the last time we had such a bad experience with someone that should be professional representing a country. She shouldn’t be working at the consulate with no manners. Asked very simple questions but she refused to answer. All her answers were “go on the website”. What a disgrace

My wife and I arrived an appointment sooner. After a long long journey, we didn't have much energy to wait an hour more. We tried our luck and went up to the Consulate's office. No one was in the waiting room. We asked if it would be possible to submitted the passport earlier. Surprise is ... why not. The antecedent for this answer was that I had a telephone consultation with the other consulate employee.Whether my wife's passport will expire and whether she can be renewed during my appointment so that she does not have to wait another six months and drive several hundred miles again. The answer was no, because every visitor have twenty minutes and everyone very busy. We started with this experience. But we took her papers with us. Fortunately. She was a young, sympathetic woman, she did it professionally and she was very helpful, and last but not least, she was very kind. We thank the lady for her help and the pleasant disappointment!

It gives me no pleasure to write this review by any means, but since there is no other way to get this out there, I hope this gets attention and the consulate perhaps takes a good look at what is not working and fix it, specifically their receptionist. My son was trying to verify his Hungarian lineage and called 6 months ago and was given the form numbers to fill out and they made an appointment for him for September 3rd over the phone. Two weeks prior to that, they CALLED him on his cell phone and rescheduled with him once again OVER the phone for December 1st. December 1st, he showed up for his appointment, just to be told by a rude receptionist that he doesn't have an appointment because he doesn't have it in writing. If they needed it in writing, why didn't they tell him that 6 months ago...or why did they call him in August and rescheduled with him over the phone? It just doesn't make sense and to top it off, the receptionist was rude to him in person and on the phone as well from the beginning. I have read a few reviews and it seems the receptionist needs a little chat on how to treat people. The consulate is open a couple of days a week for a few hours at a time. My son waited patiently for 6 months for his appointment and got treated like dirt at this consulate's office.

I requested an expedited appointment to have my signature notarized (not more than five minutes process) and they gave an appointment more than 6 weeks away from the time I requested it. I called and wrote again and finally was able to get an appointment within 2 days. I guess, to get a sooner appointment, one must state specifically the hardship in order for them to grant you the expedited appointment.

If you do it with an accelerated procedure then it takes about 3 4 weeks. But as soon as possible you have to start to make sure you come. About $ 81 a fee and postage back and forth. The smooth process kB takes 2 months. Calling them was very helpful to me.
