Use Google maps to find it. Well worth the time. Very clean, beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. Good information. Especially enjoyed the presentation on medicine in the civil war era.

Neat stuff if your into history, as my hubby is. Interpretive center houses a small museum, a miniature of the old fort site, and a 20 minute information film. Their is a small gift shop. Outside are description boards of plant life useful to the people of the era The full trail is fairly steep so I did not think we could handle it. We did walk around at the site of the ground where the men "hunkered" down in grassy berms (still visibly there) to protect themselves from the passing ships on the river firing cannons. One can get a great view of the old downtown Clarksville area when the trees are not in bloom. The fort was know by three different names. Just a couple of blocks away is another history station house. Worth the trip!

Nice little museum, and the staff was very sweet and informative. Also a nice little gift shop.

The Husband and I were on the search for a fun place we’re we could learn some history and walk off a heavy lunch. Fort Defiance was just that spot. The Historic trail they have is about a mile to the end and a mile back. You can stand exactly where the fort use to stand and still see some of the trenches. There are short reads along the trail and more history and artifacts inside the museum, located towards the beginning of the trail. The lady in the museum (Lord I forgot her name) was warm, welcoming and full of helpful information. Definitely recommend. The walking trail is pet-friendly!

Like a quarter of a mile maybe?!?!? It is down a hill....and then back up. But all of the interesting canons, and the beautiful building with a GREAT view of the City, is all up at the top of the trail. So it is good for the physically challenged.
Leashed pets are allowed on all Clarksville Parks and Recreation trails.
I believe the visitor's center maybe closed due to it being a holiday. But the grounds will be open if you wish to walk around.
