We had 3 propane tanks that needed to be filled. Two 7 gallon tanks and one 5 gallon tank. We always go to this location as it’s the closest to where we are. We have had our tanks filled quite often and never have a problem. About a month ago one of the gentlemen there pointed out that one of our tanks is due to be recertified this year in June. He then filled all 3 of my tanks. My husband has been there on several occasions for propane refills also. A few weeks ago a young man refused to fill one of the tanks because he said it was expired, so hubby came home with and empty tank. Today we get the same young man again… and again he refuses to fill the tank. My husband points out to him that it doesn’t expire until June per one of his coworkers… he still won’t fill it. My husband points out to him that everyone else that works there fills all of our tanks with no problem. We loaded up our tanks and went to Fred Myers down the street… we explained what had happened at the Towne Pump down the way. They checked our tanks and said you don’t need recertification until June of this year and promptly filled all 3 of our tanks!!! Price for propane is the same at both locations. $58 later we were on our way with 3 full tanks of propane. Not sure if the young man at Towne Pump was misinformed during his training or just wasn’t paying attention during class… but inconveniencing customers is not a good practice for any business. Other than when we run into this young man the service at this location has always been great!!!

One of the propane attendants doesn’t know a propane tank is fillable up to the month it expires. He goes by the year the tank was manufactured only. The other attendant knows this and pointed out my tank has six months before the tank needs to be recertified during another visit. I left. Drove down to Fred Meyer and had my tanks filled. I pointed the date out to the Fred Meyer attendant who agreed my tank had several months left to be filled. Be careful of this misinformed youth!
