Nice park with lots of trails as well as available canoeing, kayaking, and horseback riding. Parts of trails are wooded other quite open. Plan on bringing insect repellent and sunblock. Trails are less than adequately marked so grab a map and look it over prior to starting.

If you enjoy hiking or fishing, this is the place to go. Climb to the top of the kame (gravel deposits left behind by ancient glaciers) and enjoy the spectacular views. The nippersink creek provides for kayaking or fishing. A variety of terrain makes for a great day spent outdoors.

One of the best prairies I have come across. McHenry county has done a great job with the 3,400 acre area with a great plant diversity and well managed (good control of invasives). If you like prairies, this is definitely one to see, as well as a wonderful place to walk or kayak/canoe float.
