Horrible experience. Staff was very unpleasant. Have to pay to even browse their shop. 😪 We asked to come in the Air Conditioned Gift Shop to use the restroom after a 4 1/2 hour drive, and they wouldn't even make an exception for an 82 year old diabetic man. She pointed to the Portable Toilet in the parking lot. It was 95 degrees that day. We love everything about the little town, but I will never recommend anyone stop here and expect a friendly face. So sad, because everyone else on our trip to Green Bank were wonderful people.

Loved this tour! The GBT is gigantic! If you're interested at all in space and science/tech, I would stop here.

The Science Center is equipped with many interactive displays which are fun for kids and educational for any age group. The bus tour is a great value priced at only $10. Also, a six mile side trip off state rt. 92 will take you to Cass Railroad where you will find a working steam locomotive and many amenities for tourists. Together, the two attractions will fill an entire day with past, present, and futuristic fun for all.

Probably so. There is a large quiet zone in that are. No cell towers are permitted.
I believe they have 5 but they have 2 that are rather large. The biggest being obviously the one you can see driving near the area. We found it interesting that they can link 3 of them together to make a bigger radio telescope. If you go there they still have a walking tour that starts at the visitor center with a paper that explains the different equipment they have

There is an annual drawing on a very limited number of permits for hunting. You are assigned a very specific area, individually on which to hunt. Probably get more info from the WVDNR website. 1 304 456-2011 to the observatory may get you some answers.
