This was in my list of hikes to achieve this year. So glad I got to experience the challenges and rewards of Chocorua. Plenty of parking, few trails to take to summit. N

Having summited via Champny and Piper many times I finally climbed Liberty today. It is shorter in length but fairly steep throughout. It took 1:48 to summit stopping once or twice for a minute at a time. Steady pace. Do not do this unless you are very fit and used to climbing in the whites. If you are used to climbing her its not any harder than say, getting to the top of Tuckermans.

Such an amazing hike. Just go, it’s worth the pain you’ll feel in your legs the next day, lol!

No you do not
The parking area, all areas within a 1/4 of a flowing stream and most of the mountain, outside the several cabins is in a forest protection area. Camping at the TH could result in a fine and they are patrolled. Check with the Saco ranger district
