As great as the facility is, I feel they are too picky on who gets to adopt a dog. Cats seem fine and easy, I was turned down after 2 visits because they didn't prefer my methods of training. Honestly the girls were VERY nice and knowledgeable, I just feel like it should matter more the relationship you have with the dog more than how you would train. You need a relationship first before you can even start to train. Although it's upsetting to be politely turned away due to a specific they aren't completely on board with they should understand more that dog training is not black and white. Never is. Good people but unfortunate ways of getting adoptions done. Just hope the dogs get to go to a good home sooner rather than staying at a kennel (although the kennels are in AMAZING condition)

Had my two cats spayed with ARL’s Spay Waggin. One of them split their incision open and I was able to receive follow up care at the Dedham location. Second time’s a charm, thank you Lauren!

i recently adopted one of their cats, sasha. she is so sweet and i fell in love with her as soon as i met her. she has some medical issues with behavioral issues such as chronic hiding, and I do agree with that, as she does hide quite a lot, but she has slowly been opening up and went from being very nervous and frightened by any movement or sound and hiding under my bed, to becoming a lot more playful and exploring the house slowly, but I know she'll become so much more comfortable with time. overall the place is great. the staff were so kind and helpful and overall were awesome. my only complaint was that we were there a little longer than intended, getting the paperwork together and ready took a little longer than we thought it would, but the actual process was very quick. but overall, this is such an amazing place.

Animals seems clean, healthy and safe. When you go walk in, they will be showing the animals. Animal cages and creates are clean. Little animals they had when we visited are rabbits, New Guinea pigs, birds, rats, etc. Very lovely place to visit with your kids and teach your kids how to donate and volunteer.

Hi Hannia, thank you for reaching out! We are proud to have a Live Release Rate or “Save Rate” for animals entering our shelter of 94%. Although we do not embrace the term “No Kill”, a Live Release Rate of 94% meets a common definition of “No Kill”. We do not euthanize on the basis of length of stay, space, and/or breed. We take in animals based on our capacity to care for that particular animal and any health or behavioral issues an animal might have. Sometimes, because of a complex medical or behavioral issue, an animal in our care cannot be placed in a home. We will work to identify another program that could help. For cats that are unable to adapt to indoor life, for example, we work to place them in our “barn cat” program. We also maintain a network of dedicated foster volunteers who can take home animals that have special needs until we are able to find their forever home. For info regarding our surrender policies, please visit https://www.arlboston.org/services/surrender/
Hi Anna, we do accept donations of crates but unfortunately if it is extremely rusty we would not be able to properly use it. Thank you for thinking of us though!

I have some cans of fresh cat food will they take that?
Try Quincy Animal Shelter. I know it is a non-kill shelter
Your best best is to either call or just go there
You should go to Schultz Guest House right In Dedham. Lots of puppies to love, all sizes!
You should go personally to speak with a trained volunteer. They will walk you through the process
