Such a small jewel with great personality. The museum feels like you have been invited by a (ultra rich) friend to check her extensive collection. The collection itself is eclectic but the way that the collection matches the mansion where it is hosted is probably the best part. You should plan on spending about 2 hours here and then go to the Museum of Fine Arts for the afternoon.

Had a wonderful time at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum! It was incredible to see all the items Isabella Stewart had accumulated and each room had its own unique personality and story. I believe that on the first Thursday of each month, admission to here is free from 3-9pm so I would definitely recommend checking it out then if you have the time

Small rooms, dark lightning. Crowded with people and hot. There were security staffs at every floor. I got yelled twice for having my flash on. The only great thing about this museum is the paintings. Other than that, it was average. The tapestry room is pretty good just wish that it’s not too dark. There were no guides or anything. You scan QR codes at each room for description.

Love the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum! This stunning exhibition is a wonderful afternoon activity. The courtyard is full of plants and creates such a lovely atmosphere. The museum is fully accessible, with a cafe and gift shop if you need a break from all the art. Coat check is free and babies are also welcomed! Was surprised how busy it was when I attended (due to the need to reserve tickets and an entry time online), but it never felt overcrowded. If you bring your phone remember some headphones! QR codes through out link to an audio tour or written guides about all the art. Staff are also super helpful if you have questions or curiosities. Was a bit disappointed by the lack on info on the famous art theft that took place here. But if you’re curious about it, check out the Netflix doc “This Is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist”.

Yes, it’s on the 3rd floor! Islamic designs influenced the cloths (and thus paintings) of many Italian artists of the time, which is why (it is believed) Isabella paired it in her ‘long gallery’. Source: museum audio tour.
Yes until 5 pm.
A woman who knew how to live the way SHE wanted. A true patron of the Arts ? A visit to her museum is a must when you're in Boston !!!
An hour or less really..I have done it in under an hour....nice shop too.
The museum is very hp accessible. There are elevators to each floor.
They have an elevator, but the museum is not really set up for handicapped visitors. It was difficult for my father and no wheelchairs are allowed in some of there galleries
No, they give free admission only if your name is Isabella
Adults: $15 Seniors 65 and up: $12 College Students with current ID: $10 Members: Free
I could walk in parts of the courtyard. An amazing place.
Not that I know of but if you have a Bank of America account you can get in for free.
They can't deny a service dog
No, though there is some Christian art in the building
You can buy tickets on the Gardner museum website ahead of time or at the door. They have a QR code to scan and buy there. Keep in mind the tickets may be limited, but I don’t think that will be a problem unless you are planning to go at peak hours.
Yes it is. Access to higher floors are by elevator. Facilities have to compliant with the ADA, which this museum is.
I believe, from what the website states, it's just Isabella's that receive free admission for life.
Yes
You need to buy tickets ahead of time. You line up outside and they will let you in when your ticket time comes up.
Yes. Definitely
You can pass around if you pay
If you can walk, almost the entire house, except the basements.
Children under 18 got in for free, but I don't know about any discounts that involves being a bank of America costumer
Have you taken a look at the Wikipedia page? It does have a lot of information on the heist itself and you may find that interesting.
Yes some meter parking out front and some lots in the area.
Honestly I didn't see this kind of service during the visit. If you permit me, i think that the older building, the mansion, it's complicate to visit with a wheelchair due to the number of floors and stairs. Please, call the museum for a more precise answer.
The museum is closed on Tuesdays. It is open from 11 am to 5 pm on all other days
https://amp.wbur.org/lastseen/2018/10/29/reading-list-isabella-gardner-museum-heist lots of them...
I saw all 4 of them...if we're talking about the same ones..
Hi Diana, Thank you for your question, we do offer $2 admission for EBT cardholders. You can learn more about this program on our website, towards the bottom of the page here: https://www.gardnermuseum.org/visit/admissions All the best, Lena
If your name is Isabella, you get a free admission.
Check the hours on the website .. usually it's earlier on sundays
I Think Yes but better if you call
The Gardner Museum does not have a Caravaggio. Nor does the Museum of fine arts.
We used the NY Pass to get free admission.
Do you know what you want to reproduce?
If you are a visitor and a guard tells you that they have you on video touching material on a wall, what are the procedures for proving they are incorrect? This happened to me, I was taken into the said room. I explained I had never touched the wall, people stopped to watch the guard and me. I was embarrassed beyond measure. There was no apology’s given. The guard said,” Maybe you just got too close”! My afternoon was ruined.
I suggest you call the museum
Also free for active duty military and up to 3 of their guests.
There's a cafe inside the museum and plenty of other restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. The museum does allow re-entry.
Limited hours.
13 pieces of art were stolen. One was a Rembrandt. Total value for all 13 is roughly $500 million.
This is not a question.
the museum is great and I recommend art lovers to go to this place. children shouldn't go here.
Many, I suppose! Beyond their number both Gardner and MFA are considered a most elegant location, "il salotto buono " , for the local population.
$15 for adult, but $5 for students, and $2 off if you wear Red Sox apparel
