Been trying to get a hold of an inspector or code enforcement for 2 months. All these new hires don't have a clue as the good and knowledgeable people have retired. I guess if they don't want to do their job, I will not bother with a permit for my addition.

Nearly impossible to talk to anyone. Their office is closed because of covid, so phone/web are the only options. I have been leaving voicemails for the last 5 days and no return call. The link from LMD online to schedule an inspection doesn't go anywhere that one can schedule an inspection from. Can still schedule by phone. But I don't need an inspection, I need to talk to someone. Quite frustrated.

In years past they were much easier and friendly to deal with. For some reason over the past few years they seem to have a goal of making the most simple things difficult. Permits for something as simple as a carport can take 2 months. If your plans have a mistake on them that wasn't caught, they want you to resubmit them which takes another 2-4 weeks. Just like all the government agencies, you have to stay polite and respectful even if you're verbally abused, wait all day and no inspector shows up, wait to get a call back and never get one, or any other things they throw at you after spending $10k. Aren't we supposed to be paying for a service that keeps people safe. Certainly seems more like a service to raise the price of housing, slow down progress and create jobs for power hungry individuals. Hopefully one day they will go back to realizing that the public are their customers that keep them employed.

You need to first figure out if you're in city or county jurisdiction. Then you need to go in and have a meeting with them to see if they will allow the changes. You don't need to bring them anything other than the address.
I am not an inspector... Ive seen this hundreds of times in my past but in today's world...i do not know... Best of luck
Yes I am still enduring that struggle. I have had zero response for a month with 4 attempts ( email and messages ). Lower your expectations is my advice.
I'm not an official... I'm a client and General Contractor of whom uses Lane County also
Stay in Southern Cali, the Lane county government office doesn't pick up phone. Use online to make contact for renewal process with lane county building permits or are in a city?
