Always a great place to hike in NM. If it's your first time or want an easier hike to the top, do it in reverse taking the stairs up instead of down.

El Moro is a unique piece of history. The park surrounds a small oasis where generations of people have stopped and left their mark. There are hieroglyphics as well as names and dates and even a few short journey synopsis'. The trail that has the majority of the names and the oasis is paved and an easy walk. I only got to enjoy that small portion of the park but it was a wonderful experience. The rangers were knowledgeable and kind. The bathrooms were clean and well kept.

Great National Monument, sometimes it seems that the smaller ones are better. No crowds great views and some awesome history. It was so cool to see all of the carvings from Native Americans to Knights in the Spanish army to Civil War captains. Great place to visit. So super cool!

Above and beyond the 5 star level. Spectacular scenery and wonderful hike up to the top. Trail loop can be challenging for some, but very rewarding. The Fall sun felt great. The wind would pick up every so often. Weather was just right. Ancient and not so ancient (But super old) markings on the bottom of the façade. Amazing! We love this place. Will be back for sure.

Yes it's open but, the visitors center and and coves and study center are closed. I did not pays fee or get a permit.
NIX that!!! I thought I were asking about Florida!
That is correct. The website explains about the excavation done on this ruin.
Southwest of Grants on hwy 53 about 50 miles. It's a little further from Gallup.
Free. Wear hiking shoes if you plan on going to the top of the mesa (highly recommended). Sandals are not a good idea and flip flops are outright dangerous.
