Absolutely splendid: Amazing structure, gorgeous adornments and art, and fabulous setting. Keep tuned to the stories about the current owners and their travels, history, and personalities. The home’s guides are a treasure trove of information, too, and exceptionally friendly. This home flies below the radar of its nearby sibling, Fallingwater. But it shouldn’t: and you will love its ability to blend into its surroundings.

Amazing surviving example of Frank Lloyd Wright's work, deep in the forested hills of rural PA. The thick natural surrounding is the perfect backdrop for his design that is intended to let in the nature and utilize sunlight as a heat source, a light source, and an architectural element itself. It's just a short drive from Falling Water, and while not as dramatic, it's worth the detour to see both. This one is privately owned and does have a bit more commercial feel to it, with a gift shop and ice cream shop on the grounds. Spend some time and look around at the artwork on the grounds. They have a large portion of the Berlin Wall in the middle of the woods. I had no idea that's what it was until we were driving away and the bus driver casually mentioned it.

Highly recommend pairing this with a tour of Fallingwater, since the two properties are so close together. Both are a very different look at FLLW's architectural style- having been built about 20 years apart. If you've toured other FLLW Usonian properties, you will notice right away many of the differences between this one and others. The original owners of this property were pretty successful in getting a lot of what they wanted incorporated into the design. Very unique, very beautiful. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of the property and had many interesting stories to share. The current owner has taken great care of this gem and has added a lot of his own touches. The only downside was the inability to take photos of the beautiful interior- but I'm guessing this is because of the current owner's very personal touches, including many family photographs.

Very unique Frank Lloyd Wright house. This was a good introduction to Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture. If you don't know much about Frank Lloyd Wright it is a good idea to see this house before you see Fallingwater. It will help you understand his architectural concepts and principles. Only two right angles in the entire house! Interesting use of hexagon windows in the house. Beautiful surroundings. Very nice view outside the house overlooking nearby mountains. Nice nature trail outside the house. Tour guide was helpful and knowledgeable. Very easy to stop by and see. Current owner has some interesting artwork and historical artifacts in the house. Gift shop was very good. Well worth a look.
