This is where people that rarely go outside visit. It's frustrating going here and seeing all the people feeding the ducks bread even when there are signs everywhere saying not to (try bird seed!!) Cops will stroll the park making sure nobody is hanging hammocks up because it's apparently illegal here. A chain link fence halts hiking up high and restricts animals access to water, last summer there were two dead deer caught in the fence. If you go here, leave it better than you found it!

Questions & Answers

Is there fishing there to do

Trevor Allen | Aug 2, 2020
Joseph Keyes | Aug 3, 2020

Fishing is a lot of fun at first dam. There are multiple places to fish from including the shoreline and 2 piers. I have only caught trout out of first dam.

When was the last fish stocking for rainbow trout at first dam in Logan, it?

Im not to sure sorry.

Is fishing allowed there and if so at what time of year?

Javyah Davla | Jun 28, 2020
Alfred Iodice | Jun 29, 2020

Yes fishing is allowed. I'm pretty sure its year round or until it freezes over. There is second dam up a little further.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes!

who built first dam and why was it constructed

The great beaver architect, Beaver First, constructed the dam in the summer of 1919 in order to provide a home for his new family of 6. The First family lived there for the next 50 years and had 4 more kids. At the end of the 60's, invading geese and turtles forced the First's out of the region and away from their beloved dam. Beaver First's posterity now lives in the Beaver Creek area near Beaver mountain, both areas as well as the Dam bearing his name as reminders of his contributions to Logan canyon. Hope this helps!
