Packet is thick you have to fillnout and you need tb and covid test. But even though it seems strict, it definitley seems worth it. I havent got in yet, but this is just from the feeling i got from talking to security and the guy in charge. They will help if your trying, but if you just want to lay around this is not the place. They want to help you get on your feet, which is what i need.

Do not waist your time here unless you have an addiction. They will talk down to you like you are the Scum of earth. They change rules to suit there needs not yours. Even Security is confused on what the rules are on a daily basis. This place is a LAST resort. Go down town first. Like Father Joe's Village and there are others. Good Luck and thank you for your service From a fellow Verteran

I have no idea how this organization actually helps people. I applied for help and was approved, all was well and the housing manager was great. After a while I was assigned to another person and thats when it hit the fan. From that point on every time I asked a question I would get different answers from each person I asked. Talked to a supervisor, Rose, about her only answer was it depends case by case basis. I asked just about my case and she said she was not familiar with my case. She said she would review my case and call back, that was months ago. I was denied after a 90 day review, the agreement says you can have a meeting with the CEO or COO if denied, their decision would be final. I requested the meeting in email months ago I was told they would schedule. They never did. Various people at this organization said they would do a warm turn over to another organization if I was denied, as they wouldn't just drop me. Well that's what they did. They simply stopped responding to my calls and emails. How did I qualify in September but not December?? My situation was actually better in December. Why did they waste so much of my time?? Was it because they got funding from the VA once they approved me?? I have no clue how to make sense of how they operate. They set my budget well above my current means, and not a single person at this organization can explain why. It is really unclear how they actually help people in need. They treat you like you are a scumbag because you are on hard times.

As an outsider I can't really give a good review except for the people at the front desk. They are very professional and I appreciate that and I feel comfortable there. Upon personal observation it looks as if all the patients that are in treatment are doing well as they have acclimated to the program structure. As someone who helps seek out a treatment program 4 certain individuals this program was a good fit for them. And from my observation the participants seem to be improving and doing very well during treatment. This program not only treats addiction behaviors they also provide housing assistance and financial assistance and many other things that a lot of programs wouldn't cover that can assist someone who is recovering to begin a normal healthy life again. And again most important for someone who is visiting and having the ability to feel comfortable and feel at ease is a big plus and and the front desk has accomplished that task very well and I thank them for their kindness and their professionalism and their candidness.

Yes till 5pm. Residents, family and friends. We have plenty of food
Vvsd is hoping by december 1. Hope this helps!
While I strongly suggest that you call VVSD directly, I'm pretty sure they would only be able to pass along contact information. I went through their program in 2002/2003 and it has changed significantly since then. But a phone call will get you the best results. They are top notch and will do whatever they can to help you.
For all the veterans. Beware winter tent is not open till January. Please make other arrangements. The award monies issued by city supervisors is missing or has been absconded.
No, you can be from any city. The only thing you'll need to do is show up mon- fri at 700 a.m. for an intake assessment. You no longer have to be a veteran as well. They accept a variety of residents. Anything from homeless, displaced or any people seeking help for addictions from drugs and alcohol. They have a veterans and Medi-Cal program. You do not need to be on Medi-Cal to be entered into the program however, they will apply for you to be covered by them unless you are a veteran. In that event, the V.A. will approve you for benefits and coverage for the program. The program works and works well. They have a proven track k record for those truly seeking refuge from addictions. It's a great place to start the next and best chapter of your life. I can help you further if needed.
VVSD no longer has this requirement, they have changed to diffrent housing models Veterans on point or veterans in transition is for homelessness and rehousing assistance.
I suggest you call and talked to them about that
The best way to start the process is to physically come down to the campus around 9am M through F and ask to meet with an intake counselor. You may not get in right away. If you don't, there is a safe place with food and shelter available while you wait, half a mile away referred to as "The Tent.". Be patient and you will be taken care of.
Not sure as I am a resident here but personally I could use those clothing items
There are many within about a 2 mile radius. Check GOOGLE MAPS for locations. There is everything from budget motels to the Hyatt hotel
Yes they receive mail at VVSD.
Actually I have two friends there. If they have openings they will let folks in. They are accepting new people all the time during covid
Yes. We are connected and have access to the various groups and programs for veterans
Yes, we do. Please call 619 393-2000 for assistance.
LONE Fox we have multiple programs at Veterans Village of San Diego. Programs are designed to meet veterans where they need assistance. Our goal is to provide the resources and services necessary to help veterans reclaim their life. Our residential program assists homeless veterans to achieve sobriety, employment/income and then housing. We operate the Temporary Bridge Shelter for 200 homeless veterans who were previously living on the streets, canyons, riverbeds etc... We also offer Bridge Housing and Transitional Housing options for veterans. Lastly, we are opening 54 permanent housing units in Escondido - Veterans Villas. These 1,2, and 3 bedroom units are currently looking for tenants. I hope that is helpful.
No we pretty much have the day to ourselves, we do have a must attend Christmas dinner and a AA meeting.
That determination is typically made on a case-by-case basis. Best to contact your family member. They'll have a better answer.
what? is you talkin' about Willis.......
