Excellent food stamp office. The staff is very helpful and understanding of one's plight. If you live in San Mateo County this is where you can get the most help hands down.

I only use this office because I do not have a Ca phone number and can never reach the insurance company, even with the *out of state* number they always provide. It always says that it’s out of my providers services??? Every time I have needed to contact this office, I would always be on the phone for over an hour with the phone ringing, NEVER an answer. When I’d go in, I would wait for 2+ hrs and then be turned away because the people in the department “couldn’t help” me. It would take 2 weeks to receive a single document that I needed because I could “only get it though mail”, or the information needs to “be requested”. Always advised to use online portal but every time I use it, the documents DO NOT LOAD. I understand this is a public service, that it’s a county office that offers assistance to people with lower incomes and whatever else, but that doesn’t mean they need to slack on their costumer service and offer “solutions” that don’t actually resolve the costumers problems. I NEVER write reviews but I am incredibly dissatisfied with their services.

what is Cal Fresh?

Call fresh is the program more commonly known as food stamps even though the program no longer distributes it's benefits in paper vouchers due to it's stigma associated with the underprivileged class. Now, the benefits are credited to and EBT card (Electronic Benifits Transfer) It works as an ATM card does. And gets reloaded once a month on the same day every month. This day is indicated as the last digit on your EBT card number. Every six months you must resubmit your eligibility paperwork.
