S*P*I*D* - but I wouldn't want it any other way. Love the Handlebar, the patrons and all of Slab City. People who don't like it, they visited, they complained, they boujee. How can anyone complain about an oasis in the middle of the desert - that provides free sustenance and shelter??

Skating is scary. The place is cool. Plenty of people around to play music with. Busch lite or natty lite at the bar

Slab City, California Only a short 20-mile drive from Bombay Beach, Slab City sits outside Niland in a remote area of Californiaβs Colorado Desert. Once a former US Marine Corps base, the camp was abandoned by the end of WWII, leaving concrete slabs on which they used to experiment behind. Squatters quickly claimed the area as their own and used slabs to build structures to live in. The site has no electricity, running water, or sewers, and thereβs no law enforcement or taxation for those who live there. Today, Slab City remains the gathering place of squatters, snowbirds, drifters, and homeless people.

Great awesome place across from The Handle bar....most friendliest, kind bar in Slab City. Free food every night (donations); Rocky Horror movie projected; decorate Christmas tree with the kids! πππ
