December 10,2021. Hunting season State of florida has done a great job Thank you. Very much. And it shows.

I'm writing from a hunter's perspective. hunting is tough. Used to be ok , but has gotten very difficult to see any wildlife and I walk a mile. I've killed 3 bucks and 1doe out of there and a hog. But ,I've also hunted more years than I'd like to say. Saturday and Sundays you may want to stay home. After 7:30 AM discouraged hunters shoot at anything because they are bored. i 've had them want to fight because "I was in their spot." I hunt the week days ..much better...but still very difficult to hunt. Pastor Chuck

Great area to explore. Be sure to seek out the Stewart Homestead and Cemetery. Most main roads are street car friendly. If you're in an OHV, you should still select the side trails carefully. Stay on named and numbered roads, please.

It is a swamp so you will get your feet wet. Great place to hunt. Nice warden and friendly people.

Honestly the hunting here has gone down alot with more people that have been coming out there and just shooting anything that walks in front of them . But there are still some good bucks left in there but you need to get far back into those swamp heads and get up really early in the morning cause these dear are very smart here . But best thing to do is to go out there and learn the terrain on your own and not ask people for there spots cause then your not learning anything about hunting and the reason why your hunting that area and why the deer are there . But good luck with your hunt and may even see you out there .
Check the website www.myfwc.com/brochure
A long with all the lic. Wma stamp bow stamp a good map of the area.. Scout the area well , look for oak areas bedding areas and feeding areas .. Scrapes rubs .. And don't get lost in the swamp ... See ya there soon . Hey super m you can get in off hwy33 as well..
The main roads are well kept . A couple potholes here and there but I've see everything from monster truck to In there.
Its open to all. Green Swamp West is special permit.
There are many men with beards and most of us are panting after hunting. Very few bears and panthers.
You have to look at the wma for that season and when it starts
Per FWC brochure it does not list dove as a species during archery gun or small game. Here's the link for it. https://ocean.floridamarine.org/HGMSearch/BrochureDetails.aspx?srctype=pfs&title=green%20swamp Id call the number at the bottom for confirmation.

Depending on where you hunt at it is wet especially with all the rain we've been getting this year. I harvest at least one buck out of there every year and one or two doe during bow season. I don't hunt pigs there only because I'm a licensed feral hog dealer and have 8 hog dogs and 4 hunt different cow pastures that I catch pigs on totaling around 6000 acres of land and full of hogs but yes green swamp is still a good place to fill your quota if you put in your homework.
Which lake are you looking for?. If you're talking about orange lake in the management area it's not really a lake it's more of a wide spot in the river. With a good 4x4 you can drive to it but it gets really muddy. Awesome fishing in a small Jon boat. Watch out for big Papa ( about 13 ft resident gator that Will harass you. He has tried to push my boat around a few times. If you're talking about the old sand mine pit it's about a half mile walk from the road. There is plenty of bass, bluegill and catfish in there also. You can drive to Orange lake during the fishing season dates. It's only open on wknds with with access only on the rockridge /east entrance side. . Also Tillman lake is a really good fishing spot too. Mostly catfish and warmouth with mixed bluegill.
No fees, no gun range but if you were safely shooting I don't think anyone would bother you
Only during specified hunts, there is a draw for dog hunts in green swamp on fwc.com.
Thanks for the replies, called FWC just to confirm. No hunting license is needed for hogs but you do need a wma permit which I now have. Hope this helps someone else.
There are 2 camp sites, the permits are first come.
Sunrise unless there is a scheduled hunt then usually 5:30
Yeah you can but camping permits are first come first serve
Hog with dogs is first opening, then bow/archery, then muzzleloader, THEN genral gun.
Google green swamp wma click on brochure and it will tell you all the rules and regulations for the area
April 23 7 days a week but check out the website just to be sure
They do have them at some Walmart but the thing is is that almost every year they always add new trail there. But when you find one they'll be main trails.
