Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve

There is a major field used by the St. Pete astronomy club at Withlacoochee state park. It's also the home to the Orange Blossom Special (if I recall correctly). Unfortunately this field is also used by other campers so headlights can be a problem.

I was there for 2 days deer hunting. Lots of hunting pressure that weekend, did not see any turkey or sign. The terrain looks like it would be adequate.

You don't need anything if you're on someone's property with permission. you can go all year day and night long you need a gun and you don't need dogs if you don't want them . if you're talking about Richlong you can only hunt them there in hunting season with orange vest and license and all that to be in richlong. I don't know where you're hunting just make sure it is on legal property of someone property that you know. And have written permission and you can hunt hog again day or night. ATV's are not permitted. There's equestrian trails for horses. Bike trails and hiking trails, but Water management doesn't permit beyond that.

Personally, I really enjoy the Van Fleet State Trail. I park at the Green Pond Trailhead and ride north to the Mabel Trailhead and back.

Dogs are allowed on leash year-round. During hog-dog season you are allowed to run 3 hunting dogs on the ground, and you can run 1 dog during small game/migratory bird seasons.

Yes, you just have to make a reservation, camp at a designated camp site, and keep your dog on a leash. There is no camping during hunts. Maps and guidelines are available at the Southwest Florida Water Management District website.
