It’s always a pleasure to visit Opis Highlands Lake Center. The facility staff is friendly and you are treated like family.

From day one that my sister entered that center, we knew there would be problems. We soon learned that there was a severe CNA shortage & if one think that you will get the same CNA and less the same nurse forget about that. Therein lies a huge problem because on few days when my sister would get a very good and compassionate CNA, there would be a totally different CNA the next day with a less compassionate personality. One big problem was that most CNA‘s came from temp services who weren’t familiar of the patient true needs/care. Also there were numerous times my sister would press the call/help button and would wait for long times even up to over an hour for someone to help. There were communication problems between shifts. All of this caused us to be constant advocates for my sister’s welfare just for her to receive on time and decent care. The greatest advice to anyone with a loved one in any center is to visit often, call, observe staff’s physical handling and be very involved in their care.

My father-in-law has been here since March and I’m very pleased. Everyone smiles and is attentive and helpful. The facility Is very clean and even though my father-in-law is not able to attend, being bed bound, there is always activities and movie nights and enjoying dinner together in the dining room for social interaction.

I searched carefully for finding a job at a nursing home and I was so impressed and pleasantly surprised when I met the amazing group of people I get to surround myself everyday. The facility is clean and the people are phenomenal.
