The Alaska Airlines Lounge recently opened and its incredible. Great food and drinks, lots of space and plenty of places to plug in your charger or laptops. I might leave for to the airport early just to spend more time there. Looking forward to my next flight out of SFO

Level 3 Departure is where you get picked up by UBER or Lyft. Airport is high ceiling, medium size, not too crowded. Takes about 20 minutes from San Francisco city with no traffic, but to be safe allow yourself 1 hour travel time to avoid unusual traffic. All clearly indicated, very pleasant airport.

It’s quite compared to other airports. There’s not a lot of food places but what they have is very nice. The staff at the airport from TSA to the gate Agents were very impolite and simply rude.

Also Terminal for Virgin America Airlines
The food is pretty good at both Terminals Alaska flies into and there is an excellent museum located at the entrance to one of them. There are also some lovely shops. I would advise against leaving the airport itself. Five hours seems like a long time, but you will need to allow plenty of time to go through TSA if you leave the Secure Area and that combined with transportation time to any offsite destination may not leave you much time to explore.
