I would recommend that if you have an hour two to spare, visit this market. You will find mostly locally grown produce. Oranges were out of this world. In addition, there are crafts, food, coffee and street performers. This might be a biased opinion, but I thought a lot of things were on the pricey side, targeting tourists, which came in floods. At one point, it was shoulder to shoulder on both sides. The picture I took does not do it justice. However, coming from the city that does not have a market like this, I found San Diego to be very lucky with this market’s success.

Such a great market to walk through on a busy weekend or even during the middle of the week (Wednesday market!). I bought the most amazing slice of pie (and biscuit) from a vendor called The Little Wheat and some beans I'm excited to try from Flor & Seed.

I enjoy the walk through the farmer's market, there are many food choices, and it is very close to the star of India and seaport village, and you can look at unique gift ideas

Honestly, GREAT stop. I was on my last day before heading back to Chicago and ended up bringing some fresh fruits home. The fruits we get here in the Midwest cannot compare. I was very happy and impressed by the amount of street vendors and variety you found. I saw a knife sharper, natural honey, almonds, crystals, wood. I highly recommend visiting if you have the chance.

Hi Craig, yes Knifesavers is at the Mercato every Saturday! Find him between State and Union Street on the south side of Date during market hours, 8am-2pm.
The Little Italy farmers' market is open 8 am to 2 pm every Saturday, year-round, rain or shine. (I'm the market manager.)

Hello Margaret, there are two weekly Farmers' Markets in Little Italy. Wednesday from 9am-1:30pm, and Saturday from 8am-2pm. Come by and check them out! Thank you!
Hello Matthew, Yes our Little Italy Wednesday Market happens every Wednesday from 9am-1:30pm! We have two markets every week, our Saturday market is open from 8am-2pm. Both operate every week, year round, rain or shine. The Wednesday market is 2 blocks of West Date street and the Saturday market is 6 blocks of West Date street. Hope you can make it out to one or both of our Little Italy Markets!
Hello Anna, our vendor application is on our website: SanDiegoMarkets.com. If you are just getting started as a market vendor, check out our next Vendor 101 workshop on March 18th: www.Vendor-101.com. Thanks!
Hi Bonnie, sorry I am just seeing your question now. The California Olive is at our Little Italy Mercato market every Saturday and our new Wednesday market in the same location as well! Bistro Blends was with us for many years, but left the markets to explore other selling options. Hope you can come by the market and get The California Olive! Thanks for supporting the market!
Hi Tiffany, Yes! We accept EBT. Please come to the Welcome Booth on India & Date (in the Piazza). We can run the EBT card there and give you scrip to use for produce and other grocery items. See you soon!
This is a great farmers market one of the best I have been to
Yes there are handicapped parking spaces nearby on almost all streets perpendicular to the market. There is also a parking lot at a Washington Elementary on Union & Date that has handicapped spaces as well. See you at the market!
I know u have to rent a space id contact the city to ask more questions
Your best bet is to go on the trolley to avoid having to deal with parking at all. It is almost impossible to find parking without paying. Meters have you running back and forth. Garages or parking areas are good but pricey.
Hello Edward, Typically we host approved sponsor booths occasionally where groups or businesses can promote themselves, but due to covid-19 regulations we are restricted to hosting only farms, food vendors and limited craft items. We are unsure when this restriction will change.
Hi Kris, Yes! We do have many farmers who accept WIC. Please come to our info booth (bright yellow tent on India Street & Date) on Saturday and we will give you the list! Thanks!
Christmas is a Friday this year. Go to their website.
That is correct. Here is their website with the latest information. http://sandiegomarkets.com/
You can park for free but finding a spot is not easy. There are several pay parking in the area
Hello King Yes we do accept EBT at the market! Bring your card to our Information booth on Date Street and India (by the music). We will run your EBT card and give you market bucks to use on food at the market. Thanks!
They have a couple of vendors that sell sea urchins. I never tried them, but I've seen people eating them.
The Mercato Farmers’ Market will be open in a different location this Saturday, 4/27 due to Artwalk! Find the Mercato open from 8am-4pm (2 hours longer than usual) on Cedar Street from State to Front, AND Beech Street from State to Front. 4 blocks of farmers and vendors instead of our usual 6, but come out and shop with us and enjoy Artwalk afterwards. 😊
Any Ace parking
Yep there is a stand that usually sells them.
Hello Mark, yes we now have a farmers’ market on Wednesday’s to accompany our big Saturday market. Wednesday’s market is open from 9am - 1pm! Come out and see it!
This is a consumer forum. Some of the sites are monitored by the actual entity but some are not. I would call the market manager.
Hello Mary! We now have a Wednesday Farmers’ Market that is open every Wednesday from 9am-1pm! Hope you can come by! Our Mercato is still open every Saturday as well from 8am-2pm.
I do not know their location. Best thing to do, is contact Little Italy Mercato Association and email or call with your question. They will know the location and contact info for that vendor.
Salmon Slinger sells fresh uni at the Mercato most Saturdays! They also sell many types of locally caught fish. There is also a great fisherman’s market- Tuna Dockside, close by and they have fresh uni as well. Thanks for supporting local fishermen/women!
Agreed with others. Technically not allowed but lots of people bring them. Make sure your dog can handle the crowds and easy access to food
