This was my first experience with Budget Car Rental. I had a reservation through Costco Travel. There was a long wait at the airport to pick up the car. The representative at the counter was not efficient. He did not explain things very clearly. I was not aware that I would be charged a $200.00 additional fee I did not like the fact that we were just handed the keys and instructed to pick up the car. No walk through with employee to point out any damages to the vehicle. I did take a detailed video just in case. The return of the car went smoothly and was told I would receive an e-mail from Budget. I did point the concerns I had about the dings and scrapes on the car. Keeping my finger crosse I do not get hit with charges I was not expecting or being blamed for damage I was not responsible for.

The pre-paid reservation, the truck, and the return check out was GREAT! The customer interface to the Spokane desk was terrible. Before arriving in Spokane, I called three times to ask a question about my reservation. 2 out of 3 put me on auto-answer then hold and then auto hung up. The first time I got a human, he put me on hold and hung up. IF Budget can send me email and text notifications, they should allow customers to send email and text to each location to respond. I understand people get busy and forget, but an email and text system reminds you.

Budget gave me a 2021 Toyota RAV4 LE for this trip. I was amazed at what it could do. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping much better than my 2019 Acura MDX. We missed our chance to add XM Radio at the counter then could never get it activated during our trip. We were out in the sticks of Western Montana and turning on XM would have really been nice. 30MPG was nice.

Vehicle wasn’t available when I needed it. I was told I would need to wait and it took longer than I was told. I was with others that were meeting additional people at the airport so everyone was delayed. Then when my vehicle was ready it wasn’t the size vehicle I had reserved. I hadn’t been informed originally that this would be an issue. I asked about getting the vehicle size I reserved and was told I would just have to wait until one came available if that’s what I wanted. I was given a “free” size upgrade because it was my only option. I wanted a more fuel efficient vehicle and this vehicle type wasn’t available even though I had made and paid for it well in advance. I felt like my desires were not valued and I was basically a problem to your company.

Generally they are fine with this. Never been a problem for me.
Switching drop off locations usually coats more, but Heather is right, call Budget.
Yeah, but they add 200 on top of rental that may take up to a week to get back depending on your bank.
Call them ahead of time.
