The VA in general seems to catch a lot of flack for not being the best health care, but from my personal experience with my father having a brain tumor currently, and needing immediate treatment the VA in Sacramento(where we started) and in the San Francisco location has been phenomenal. The staff and doctors in the Sacramento ER were courteous, professional, and all around just great. We brought him into the Sacramento VA 2 nights ago and that night they got him in an ambulance and sent to San Franciso to see a neurologist so that they could treat the tumor. The 1st day he was in San Francisco he met with a team of neurologist and the next day a cardic team and internal medicine team. They have been very fortcoming with information and treatment plans and super compassionate. The other private ER we went basically told us we need to go somewhere else since we'd have to pay cash for any treatment. I am very confident in the quality of care and treatment he will be getting from the VA. I appreciate all the staff here and am so thankful he is around people thay seem to care a great deal about him.

My grandfather is a veteran and this is an excellent hospital.

The entire staff at this facility are great . They are all professional and work as a great team . They made me feel safe and very positive to get me through my lung cancer . They acted fast and as a result I am cancer free . I cannot thank everyone at the VAMC enough for helping me .

I was a patient at Ft Miley for 20 years 1995-2015. The care received was the best, top quality. I acknowledge and thank God, for his love, grace, mercy, and divine Word of protection, for keeping me from death! Dr. Tierney was a Godsend to manage my care and act as my PCP. Other than his advanced medical skill and knowledge, the blessing that made the difference is that he cared for the patient, the Vet; me! He listened. No system is perfect, but my experience was a blessing. I experienced near death numerous times, but God, and Dr. T's intervention enabled me to be, and say thank you Ft. Miley, and USF Medical Coronary Staff. Many times we expect man and his technology to perform miracles; but too often forget it is God, Elohim that created the heavens and the earth, and made man and woman and breathed life into him. God thank you!

Yes, it's called the Hoptel. It's in building 9. I work there the phone extension is 22529
Get his discharge papers from the nearest VA Service office. Most major town have one. The person at the service office can make the initial evaluation appointment. After the vet is seen and his problems noted you go to the nearest VA clinic for an initial in take. Once you have a primary doctor he can make referrals to the hospital usually picking the pressing problem first. I know it sounds like a lot of running around but the VA runs on paperwork. Im glad to help if you have any more questions. Good luck Brenda
I have no idea and it's not posted anywhere that I know of. Great question I hope someone out there has the answer for both of us.
Yes, there is an area along the back fence, overlooking the Bay. There are no gas/water/electric or septic service hookups here, so you're on your own in respect to that. Go register with the campus police first, and get permission to stay. They will give you a placard for your dashboard. Back in parking only. The lot is dirt/gravel. But you will be treated to an amazing view of the Bay, Napa valley across the bay, The Golden Gate bridge, and parts of San Francisco. There is also a great cafeteria in the main building, looking over the Bay. There are tables outside for Francesco. Enjoy. I hope everything goes well with your son.
You can call the VA hospital and they will help you or you can go there and go to patient floors and ask desk.
I would reach out to the Integrated Health Program if you're interested in partnering. I don't know extension but operator should be able to direct you.
Call the advice nurse or go to ER
Building 200 is where the main entrance to the VA is located. Visit sanfrancisco.va.gov for a campus map
No you don't need an appointment. Just go to the VA at Fort Milley in SF. And go to Membership Section, gr. floor.
No, ma'am. Use San Francisco Fire Dept Paramedic Ambulance. ANY -ot- NO insurance, way more affordable.
If you get there by 8 or a little before, there should be spots left
yes, a garage for patients, immediately to the right at the first stop after entering the grounds
John our hours here are from 8am to 18 00 Monday thru Friday excluding holidays come see us we Will take care of you and Thanks for your Service let us serve you!
Many families stay at the Seal Rock Inn if the hoptel isn't an option
If you call the main line, they will transfer you to Hoptel. They can also give you the direct number. (415) 221-4810
This isn't the place for a Q like this.
Your Primary Care Physician will conduct the test for you.
Yes, you can either call the hospital or stop by.
lookin for "motel" try 'HI' international. They have dorm rooms, cont. breakfast, shared faclities, locker rooms, and there are 3 on bus routes. Either buy instant membership $25 /yr +1 free 3rd day or around +3 each day you stay $30&^ depending on availability. Unsure but helps to check if they offer "Vet" benefits. . Good luck! norma RN
Yoy can visit any time
The SFVAMC used to be Fort Miley... Army Base... I believe. Located near the NW corner of SF, across the bay from Marin Headlands, which is near what used to be another military base, but is now a childrens' museum of sorts.
Ask them if their primary doctor is at the VA
If your a Veteran you can be seen at any VA you’d like
Visit the following link for shuttle services from Bart and the Golden Gate Bridge https://www.sanfrancisco.va.gov/patients/transportation.asp
Try the Geary Parkway or Seal Rock Inn. Cheap is not a word in SF
Park on Foltan St near the ocean close to call check for safty close to VA
No, but if the veteran will be an inpatient, you could ask about one person staying with the veteran in the room, if it's a private room. I'd ask the clinic staff about options.
There's lots of gorgeous outdoor activities nearby. Land's end is there, sutro baths, and ocean beach. The legion of honor is right next door, not sure how much they charge for admission-once a month or so it's free. There's a variety of decent Asian (Chinese, Vietnamese, etc) food also nearby.
Yes there is Wi-Fi N patient rooms not the best but it works not for working LOL
Yes. The 38. The 38r will get you in the vicinity. Bart doesn't run in that direction.
You need to get registered. You should be able to register at the downtown clinic.
Same here i flew up twice and I git a check for a $1.47. it is 26.47 milrs to airport one way, so they iwr me now for may and June round trip .if i do not get it, i eill take it to someone higher.i had to pay for a shuttle from the airport.travel there
.No.
Ask your supervisor. It makes them feel important and they like you better.
It would be better to download it from the internet. The VA office might not have an updated benefits book but the internet will always be the latest changes.
Hyatt Regency. Unique building style. Experience the inside view from top floor to Lobby.
Not sure. Ask in building 200, at the entrance desk. If you have a clinic in your area, that's where to go first.
I would recommend UCSF. They are great there. My spouse spent some time there and they took excellent of her. Hope that helps.
When will Veteran’s with pre existing conditions and over 80 yrs of age receive the Covid vaccine? Any t8neframe...?
