Try the Geary Parkway or Seal Rock Inn. Cheap is not a word in SF
Michael Casdia I took your advice and will from now on stay at Geary Parkway. It was Clean and the beds were comfortable. It was $124 a night during the week
There is one very reasonable on the corner of Van Ness and Broadway. Another on Broadway going east on Broadway, half a block from VanNess. If you can, stay on a Friday or Sunday - the rates are way cheaper. But if you're going for appointments at the VA, that might not work. Either way, these two are pretty good. About $100 There is one on Geary, around 16th St. Called the Geary motel. It's much closer to the VA. Only one short bus ride. The other is called the Broadway motel. Good luck, and thank you for your service. Also, if you have appointment(s) and are coming more than 50 miles, one way, you should make reservations at the Hoptel. It's right on the grounds, run by the VA for vets who have to travel far for appointments. That is free.
You may want to Google "motels in Outer Sunset". Although I'm a Vet, and I live in the Outer Sunset, since I live here, I can't remember the names of the little motels down near Ocean Beach . . . Sorry! ☹️ BUT . . . they DON'T look run down . . . HONEST! 😊 Streets are Judah, La Playa, and Lincoln Way. There's one that may be a little bit more expensive on Point Lobos (I think it's called the Seal Rock Inn), BUT there's a restaurant attached AND it is super-close to the VA Hospital. Hope this helps. (By the way, the Outer Sunset is within 3 miles of the VA Hospital.)
Sorry not close by I suggest if you having surgery procedure try the VA hoptel it's brand new and I'm sure they can accommodate you if your traveling far. Thanks for your service!
