This station is for Amtrak and buses coming in and out of Boston. I have been to New York a numerous amount of times through this station. It is very well maintained; however, it can sometimes be quite dirty near the tracks. All in all, thank you for the easy access into New York City!

This was my first time back to Boston South Station. I used to be a regular commuter through there several times a week about a decade ago. There are many signs of growth which was great to see. South Station centralizes transportation in Boston. This is where Amtrak trains, commuter trains, and the intercity busses convene. The trains share several platforms which are well marked and also announced on the loud speaker. It is a pretty easy system to navigate and although the volume of traffic is high the station is compact enough to easily navigate to your platform and manage the occasional track change. The bus station manages the major intercity busses. They include Greyhound which is national, and Peter Pan which mostly services the northeast. The companies are well integrated and you may find your itinerary includes both carriers. The bus station is connected to the tracks via the outermost platform parallel to Atlantic Ave. You can also get there from the street which newcomers may find less confusing. It is easy to switch between bus and train. Be aware that North Station however is not the same station. South Station is the hub. South Station also connects to the T, the local subway. This station csn be accessed from the concourse, or from outside at the corner of Atlantic and Summer streets. Link for the glass pyramid. The station is serviced by the red line which connects to the popular green line via park st, and also the silver line for those heading to Boston Logan Airport. I have used the commuter line to get into the city then take silver line to airport. In my opinion this is a much better alternative to driving and parking, you avoid inevitable traffic jams, and it is pretty inexpensive. I usually budget an hour for silver line transit but usually it is more like 30 to 45 mins. If you need a Charlie card to travel the T this is the station to visit. You can buy the temp cards just about any station but the card is cheaper. There is a food court at the station. You can get McDonald's, there are a few coffee shops and options for candies, dessert, ice creams. The prices are okay especially considering convenience. You will find ample seating, large boards posting the trains but not the busses, rest rooms and ticket counters for the trains. There is also a bank and ATM. The bus station also has some services but they were mostly closed at the time I was there around 6PM on a weekday. There are many more choices at the train station. The bus station did have a vending machine from CVS with aspirin and other over the counter meds and small items. Changes I noticed included construction! It appears there will be a second level to the interior. The train tracks used to be mostly open air but now there are beams above. There also used to be a garden off to the side of the track. It was pleasant to wait outdoors here. That is now blocked off, hopefully temporarily, for construction. It was good to see the growth. Overall The stations are both busy, well marked and clean. I felt very safe and that it was a pleasant and efficient experience. I would visit the train side for picking up a snack over the bus side because of better variety and more stores being open. I would recommend travel through these stations.

In the past 9 months I have been riding the train at least once a month. I have to admit, I am getting use to the schedule and routes so it has become easier to commute. Purchasing tickets is easy on line or I see the same customer service agents who are always helpful and friendly. More eateries are opening up again and most of the homeless are not hanging around the station taking up all the seating areas as there aren't very many places to sit. The station has been under renovations but when they're done, it will be even better.

You can probably take a greyhound bus for that. You would have to either contact them or check out their website for current pricing and exact drop-off location.
Children 12-16 get a %20 discount if they are travelling with an adult over 17 years old, if they are travelling alone they pay full fare.
Same day.
The airport station is ten or fifteen minutes from the airport. This station has the blue train. The south station is twenty or twenty-five minutes from the airport. This station has the red train. You can take the blue train or the red train to get to the orange train or the green train.
