I was impressed with the ferry line's response to the tourist demand for Peak's Island transport on Sunday 7/3/22. The crew does an amazing job under pressure, and all with focused smiling faces. Well done!

The Peaks Island ferry is a fun way to get to the island and back to Portland. In the summer, it can get crazy with tourists and it may be hard to find a seat. Not the case during the off-season! You can buy a ticket for your dog or bike, and it's also a car ferry. In the summer, on a warm day, I like to ride on the roof deck. You'll need to purchase your ticket in Portland. The ticket is valid for 1 round trip within the next 60 days. So that means when you are ready to leave the island, you won't need to purchase another ticket to get back to Portland.

It's a functional ferry but also pretty cheap entertainment if you want to just cruise along on a nice day and enjoy the island views from the water.

I have only used the ferry maybe 10 times but have never had any issue. Ticketing is easy but could be improved with an online purchasing option. The terminal is large and modern. The ferries run on time and get the job done. Views are spectacular. As locals, we love gathering our family, loading up our bikes and visiting Maine's islands.
