This YMCA is poorly managed. I am a YMCA member and regretting it due to this facility. On 8/3/22, I invited a guest to join my family at the YMCA to basically help my son develop in the game of basketball. We had been to this gym before with no issues, but on this particular day one of the Front staff employee interrogated my guest as if he was a criminal, and followed him throughout the gym. We were told that my guest cannot play basketball. We decided to leave, but we wanted to get clarification on guest policies and procedures, so we asked for a supervisor. Mr. Earnonn O'Sullivan was the manage from hell. He would not give us a written legal policy or procedure on guest rights and ability to use the facility with a member present. As our conservation continue, I notices that no one else was getting ask if they were a member or nonmembers. There were multiple people on the court, and I could guaranteed half of them were not members. We ask for the corporate phone number as well as the staff involved names in a calm voice. People like to paint the narrative as if we are the angry black folks. He refused to give it to us and then call the police on us. You are a manager, so you are suppose to answer difficult question and keep your professionalism. The officer came and was very helpful. This can not be the way that the YMCA conduct busy. Is this how you gain new members? The manager was rude to the children's and cut their time short during an open court session. Matt Mitchell, Presudent & CEO, where are the values and morals when you are teaching a young black boy that due to the color of your skin we are going to single you out today and not allow you to partake in the the amenitis because of our mood swing at that moment. WORST YMCA I ever been to. I will never step foot into that Y again.

Mourna(sp) that works at the front desk I simply asked her when the pool would be open because they had experienced lightning strikes but it was sunny outside. I told her that I had missed a lot of days because of lightning her reply to me very sarcastically was quotation marks and I quote you do know you live in Florida right? I thought it was very rude her job is to supply information to memberships not to give her attitude. Then she told me to go back to the lifeguard station and they would find out whether the lightning warning had passed sooner before she did. Then I went back up to the front and told her what they told me the two lifeguards and she told me that they were flat out liars. I told her that her attitude towards me was unacceptable and I didn't appreciate the way she talked to me and that she would not talk to me that way again. She has a bad attitude or she was having a bad day and taking it out on me but still not okay. That is not the first face you want to meet when you go to the YMCA as a member and you pay for a membership every month.

Disappointing experience... We signed up for swim classes. The first night they emailed us saying it was canceled due to lack of instructors. The second night, they didn't tel us anything. We were all there, waiting for it to start, and a ditzy teenager came out to tell us the instructor might be an hour late. I understand there is a shortage of workers, but twice now they've canceled without adequate notice. I also had to ask three different people what was going on before anyone was able to tell me they may be late, or may not show up. I asked for a full refund, hoping to receive it soon.

So far my experience here has been nothing but AMAZING, especially signing up! They gave me all of the information I may need and the front desk staff is always so cheerful. Stefanie & Shawna are great instructors and very accommodating! Our kids love the youth zone and the stay & play areas and their instructors are so kind and sweet. Everything is always wiped down and clean! Glad to be apart of the Y!!!

No, unfortunately. None of the YMCA's in Tampa have steam or saunas
They have a couple of rooms but are selective on what they allow at the Y. I would give the a call
They do a program called silver sneakers that has a exercise class geared towards an elderly population
Yes, members only
They do not reserve swimming lanes. If you come before 4pm on the weekdays all lanes are open to the public. After 4 the lanes on the deep end are reserved for the swim team only. There are always 2-3 lanes reserved for member lap swim.
Hi Harry, Thank you for reaching out! We do not currently have lap lane reservations for the pool, it is first come, first served. We look forward to seeing you at the Y!
Hi Lauren, At this time, we are not planning for field trips. Throughout the week of summer camp, kids will get to experience different "specialty" camp activities (examples: Sports & Games, swimming, Dane & Performance camp, and Arts & Crafts camp). Campers in the specific camps will "focus" on the speciality in addition to our traditional camp fun! Right now, members and last year campers have early access to camp registration. Give us a call and we can provide you with more information and get your family registered for 2021 summer camp! 813-866-9622

Not sure what you mean by open swim but the pool is opens early for lap swimming like 5:30am. The pool is a 50 meter Olympic pool so they always have an area that is open for people to float or just play. The pool does close for about an hour around 1pm ish so the can change from long course (50 meters) to short course (25 yards) the short course has about 20 lanes for lap swimming and again they have an area open for non lap swimming
Yes, there ate swimming lessons. But the cost depends on your type of membership. Anything between $60, $80 or $100 approximately.
Depends on your membership type.Check with your local Y. Most offer a 3 day trial anyway.
Yes
Rock climbing on select days, the Kwon do and other sports program, a kids area, and a swimming pool
Hi Jerry, The Tampa YMCA and the other Tampa Bay YMCA associations do not offer lodging.
Yes.
I don't think the Y does but you should call them. I know that there is a city of Tampa park by Freedom High school that has a Gymnastics program
