We lived in a 3rd story apartment that faced the parking lot. The temperature was always nearly 13 degrees warmer inside than outside. That was great in winter, but last summer, it made our apartment swelteringly hot. The apartments do not have air conditioning. Having a sun shade over the porch helped, since that's where a lot of heat entered, but in September, we received an emailed warning to remove it. "Curb appeal" of the apartments was suffering. Given the prolonged time it took to repaint the complex over the course of almost 9 months, it was hard to believe they'd be worried about things like sun shades that followed the color and material code we'd been given. The maintenance crew and front office staff were always helpful and as prompt as they could be. They were split between the two properties, so I don't blame them for delays, especially during the worst of the Covid 19 pandemic. The price of our apartment was raised by $500/mo in the last year. We would only have been paying the full increase if we'd stayed for several more years, but without improvements, it did not seem worth it. Our oven control panel was reparied with a panel taken from another old one that had exactly the same damage, for example. The dishwasher was old enough to have spokes breaking and rusting through before we moved in. When I requested a repair on it, they sawed off the damaged spokes and left it at that. I took that to be a budgetary restriction on their part. There was a problem with the dining room light fixture that caused it to burn out bulbs quickly, and sometimes kept the whole unit from working at all. We were told to keep using fresh bulbs. Even after the Covid restrictions were lifted and the gym was reopened, the pool was not opened for human use. It was allowed to fill with leaves and algae before being renovated, but was still not opened, or even covered afterward. A Mallard couple could often be seen swiming happily in it before and after the renovation. The spa pool at the other property was rarely open before the pandemic and was only opened for a short time before being closed again. The amenities should have been maintained for use as advertised. Shortly before we moved, notices were posted asking residents to take pictures of other residents breaking rules. This was not a matter of reporting crimes. They were trying to catch people breaking rules, like the children leaving out their toys, people smoking on their porch, and someone who kept leaving bags of fast food garbage in the hall. Residents sneaking pictures of each other can't help the "curb appeal" any more than the green pool with nutria and ducks swimming around, or the haphazardly painted buildings did for all those months. I forgot to mention the fire alarms. This is important for anyone with PTSD, conditions that make you especially sensitive to penetrating sounds, or have pets who are terrified of fireworks. They had both the familar type mounted on the ceilings, which were wired into the building but also used batteries, and a backup system that reminded me of what we had on ships when I was in the Navy. Their backup system was much more shrill, buzzing, and piercing, and was accompanied by flashing lights. Ear plugs aren't enough. It will send anyone with anxiety disorders into fight or flight mode, and if you have PTSD, it could cause flashbacks. They used it when testing the sprinkler system without explicitly stating that, for some reason. Normally they'd give warning when testing it, but not always.

I've been living here for over a year now and I love it. My neighbors are friendly as are the staff. Sure parking can be a pain. But that's with any complex and VCR is trying to accommodate for more spaces. I also love how it's possible to use the "sister complex" across the street for the gym, pool, hot tub, computers, and now a new dog park! Before moving here I had a difficult time finding a place that would approve me. I lost track of how many places I applied for. But when I found out I got approved I was elated. Thanks to them, giving me a chance, when no one else would, I was able to live independently once more with my children.

Nice enough when you're touring and showing interest in an apartment, but application process is a pathetic example of customer service. My boyfriend and I submitted our application Wednesday night and had all of our income information and rental history in by Friday. They are open all weekend, however it is now Tuesday and after calling them all day, everyday leaving messages and whatnot, they barely answered this morning only to let us know that our "unfavorable rental history" had been denied as soon as they received it. Apparently they don't have the time to let you know your application was not approved, and their leasing agents have no intention of answering the phone - one of the requirements for their simple job. Poor customer service, recommend going next door to Creekside Village for a little bit higher rent rate but a lot more for your money as far as the customer service and quality of the apartments go.

I've lived here for about two months, and I feel I've had a great enough experience to warrant a review. Compared to my previous apartment, these are incredibly soundproofed. It's a rare occasion that my roommate or I hear a peep from our next door or upstairs neighbors at all! The two bedroom layout ended up being perfect for both of us to fit our belongings in after coming from our own apartments and moving into one. The washer and dryer and extra storage closet on the patio were a big plus that neither of us had at previous places. We've been shocked that there has been zero mold thus far after a very rainy fall, which is something we've not seen at previous apartments that we've lived in. The management is absolutely wonderful and very attentive to our needs. For a small amount of money up front, we certainly found a quality apartment where we actually feel safe living on the ground floor and safe to leave our vehicles parked across the complex on nights when the parking lot is full. Like any medium sized complex, the parking isn't the greatest, and we hear children playing in the common breezeway from time to time. But given the great way that the apartment has been working for two young career people with similar schedules, we'd recommend it to any of our friends or colleagues in a heartbeat. The staff always has something going on for tenants, most recently they had a pumpkin decorating contest and a Thanksgiving lunch that they hosted. Unlike most other complexes, they actually schedule routine safety checks and breezeway cleanings about a week ahead of time, which has made it more than easy for us to plan ahead. Don't let a few bad reviews discourage you-- CTL definitely has their stuff together and have a "tenant first" mentality. 4 1/2 stars for the great apartment and staff, only missing a half star for the parking situation.
