I walked in at about 1:00 to grab lunch. Jackie, the server at the counter, invited me in to sit wherever I wanted. It was nice. I sat at the counter and she quickly served right away. I wanted the San Diegan, a burger with half pound beef patty, bacon, Jack cheese, tomato, onions and avocado according to the menu. She quickly took my order and placed it after she confirmed that I wanted it medium rare. She reminded me that she could include a small serving of coleslaw for free. I accepted. The food came in about 10 minutes. Amazingly quick service. As she packed my food up I asked her to include a few packets of mayonnaise and ketchup for my fries. After I got to.my desk, I opened up my lunch and was disappointed. The fries were a very small serving, so sparse that it just covered a small portion of the bottom of the clamshell which it shared with a very large burger. The fries, however, are very tasty and certainly worth mentioning. It's a shame they weren't very many of them. The burger was cooked to medium rare. However, the burger had no condiments whatsoever. There was no mayonnaise, no ketchup, no mustard, and this made the bread quite dry. The burger was also missing the avocado mentioned in the description. I reached for the mayonnaise packets I had asked for, but Jackie didn't put them in. I did find enough ketchup packets for my fries. After having to search the office for mayonnaise for my burger, I was able to eat it. It is a very large Burger. But it was delicious. If I had not been able to locate mayonnaise for the burger it would have been too dry. Also, without them avocado it was a regular Bacon cheeseburger. The coleslaw was amazing! It was so good. Definitely try the coleslaw. All in all, I only give this a two stars because the restaurant was not busy when I walked in. To have so many mistakes is difficult to understand. My bill came to $20 after tax and tip.

Good old American diner with behind the scene movie decor. It’s back open and serving breakfast to dinner now (check the business hours). Service is usually good but it can be hit or miss. Menu prices have gone up but the quality of the food have gone down, not a very good sign. For $15~ burgers, they are middle of the pack good, not even above average. Fries come with the dish but they are usually not freshly fried so by the time you get them, they are hard and crusty. Today’s pastrami sandwich was a disappointment. I think they cut down on the amount of pastrami and they weren’t very tasteful. You can get way better ones at your local fresh serving delis for half the price. If you are going to raise the price, you got to at least keep your quality consistent, and shoot to improve on the quality & service. I don’t see that here. Maybe I’ll go and give them one more try but I’m sort of hesitant ordering and feel disappointed again. 2.7/5 ⭐️

Haven't been here in awhile but always remembered Studio Diner in the back of my mind. I remember the food being good and had the opportunity with this Groupon. As you can see it was a great time at breakfast.

Do you serve vegan

Michele Smith | Aug 20, 2018
Steven Duffer | Aug 20, 2018

This is diner as in the last century type diner. They serve comfort foods and its probably fattening. If you gotta have vegan look elsewhere. There are plenty here in town. If you want a smidge of atmosphere from mid century with foods to match this is one place to go. As I've said before not a 5 star, not trying to be, but it's good. I agree with Brent W. Go there, have some fun and a root beer milkshake, and just enjoy it. You might even see a familiar face from the studio lot behind it.
