Im currently having a difficult time getting a refund. I got a quote for a one day generator rental for $640.04. (Rental reservation #193423474) When it was returned, (on time) I was charged $1267.44. We are a non profit organization and our volunteer treasurer didn't notice the charge for almost a year, OUR BAD! I spoke with numerous people, including the salesperson, Rodolfo, the billing department, and the manager Antonio. The said that they charged me the WEEKLY rental rate because I picked it up 2 1/2 hours early. WHAT!?! I picked it up at 12:30pm, they said I needed to pick it up after 3pm. So the 2 1/2 hour extra turned my ONE day rental, into a 1 WEEK rental. Had they told me on pick up that it would be $600 more...we would have waited the 2 1/2 hours in the parking lot. I have rented generator at this place every year for over 10 years for an annual event that we host. You would think that they would do 1 of 2 things to make this right. Refund our $600 over charge or give us a credit so we could rent from them again. They are refusing to do either. I am still TRYING to help them to make this right. If they do make it right, I will GLADLY edit this 3 star review to a 5 star review. They have been good to us in the past. If they continue to not return calls and give me the run around, then I will change this review to a 1 star review. Common united rentals, do the right thing! Scott B. What's the right earthmoving equipment for my job?

Excavators are heavy-duty diggers. Typically, the deeper the hole, the bigger the machine required. They can drill, break rocks, create trenches or dig large holes for foundations. A compact excavator is ideal for heavy digging in a tight space. Loaders are perfect for scooping up loose material and depositing it elsewhere. They move well in soft soil but cannot dig very deeply. Bulldozers' giant blade attachments can push large quantities of dirt, debris, shrubs or building remains to where you want them. A bulldozer can also be outfitted with a rear "ripper" that can tear through rock and soil.

How do I calculate excavator bucket capacity and volume?

Ensuring you have the right size bucket for your project is important for proper production and reducing wear and tear on the equipment. There are several factors to consider and calculations to perform to determine the correct bucket. Generally, you'll use OEM specifications, including the maximum lift capacity, bucket weight and bucket capacity. Find more information and how to calculate whether the capacity of your bucket will work in the United Rentals article, “How to Choose the Right Bucket for Your Excavator or Wheel Loader.”

What size skid steer do I need?

The size of skid steer depends on the job you wish to perform. The smallest skid steers typically have a rated operating capacity (ROC) of about 700 pounds and an overall weight of about 3,000 pounds. This smaller size is ideal for a homeowner project as it can usually fit through a walkthrough backyard gate. A very large skid steer can have an ROC in the 3,000-plus-pound range for someone who doesn’t have room for a full-size backhoe or wheel loader. Read more about the seven factors to consider when renting a skid steer from United Rentals.
