We so enjoyed our tour. It is well worth your time & it is very informative. It's a must to see when you are on Old Town.

Great place to visit for history buffs. The missionaries are extremely friendly and will answer all of your questions. Fun to learn about the Mormon Battalion. Nice exhibits. Highly recommended.

Great interactive experience! After the tour we walked across the road to the oldest synagogue in San Diego and hiked up a trail for a beautiful view of the sun setting behind the historical district. This is a popular destination for school groups studying California state history, and I can see why. There’s even free parking at the Mormon Battalion center or behind the Historical Park. Very worthwhile.

This is the best part of San Diego historical park for sure. It’s not just the museum, they entertain and educate you. The tour is super awesome and interactive. Missionaries are super nice and fun, the historical stuff is super interesting. Even if you don’t care for religious matter, this museum is absolutely fantastic. Love it and highly recommended to everyone!

A little bit less than an hour and totally worth the time!
There is nothing sold at the visitor center. There is a Mormon Battalion Patch available for Boy Scouts and other interested persons.Google Mormon Battalion patch. It is not available at the site.
Freeeeeeeeeee! Free parking too. We'll worth the price for a fun history lesson.
The Mormon Battalion was primarily an occupation force to back up General Stephen Watts Kearny. Except for a small detachment which had a skirmish with an Indian tribe near Tejon Pass, the Mormon Battalion did not fight any battle. Their interactions with the people in San Diego were such that the locals presented a petition for the Army to keep the Mormon Battalion for another tour of duty.
That's a question for the boy scouts. I'm not sure the docents have anything to do with giving out patches. They might have more info there, but don't waste a drive to find out.
Nope, walk-ins are welcome. Hours are 9am-9pm everyday except Sunday which are 1pm-9pm. It's a fun and interactive experience.
Yes and it's well worth the time and effort to go see and go through the display that they have there and it's quite enlightening and somewhat spiritual but it explains a lot about how they help discover and grow San Diego
