My husband and I went in Summer of 2021. It was a great experience with thorough historic facts and information. Our guide was really kind and informative. All the workers were friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend visiting Julian CA.

We did the gem sloshing. The staff was really nice and helpful. It was a little cold and rainy but highly recommend it. You get a lot of stones and my 6 year old got a big kick out of each one that we unearthed.

Visited Julian last weekend and took my toddler to Julian Mining Company. She loved it! We did Gem mining and the train ride. Really great for all ages. This place is so amazing for kids to get their hands dirty and do something different. We plan to bring my kids here every year when we visit Julian.

Kind of a hole in the wall place. The mine ride wasn’t really a ride, not worth paying at all. Customer service was great though. Gold panning instruction wasn’t great because only one employee was working. He was trying to do many things at once since it was busy. Gold panning wasn’t worth it either. The kids didn’t find anything. The only great part was the gem sluicing and the tomahawk throwing. A lot of the gems were smoothed not in raw form. Oh well at least the kids had some fun.

We are not a museum, but located on the creek where gold was discovered, we are a place to pan for gold and use the sluice box to go through gem ore. Our gold panning is not guaranteed, as success is based on effort and a little luck but gem mining is guaranteed since we actually add gems and minerals to the buckets and bags of ore. The gem mining is meant to be a fun, kid friendly activity.
Hi! Panning for gold in our trough costs 6.95 per kid, 8.95 per adult, that is admission for the day and includes a lesson and a vial to keep what you find. It is not guaranteed, but for $7 more, you can get a scoop of gold ore concentrate and that scoop is guaranteed to have gold. Gem mining is also available with buckets and bags of gem ore for purchase to work in the sluice box with.
