We have been visiting this place for quite some time. My son's Boy Scout Troop, did an eagle project there to build some fencing. Great place to go if you like conservation, you like wolves, and you like people who like conservation and wolves. Most of the time the wolves will come right by the fence to get a good look at you. The accommodations are what you would expect from a place which relies heavily on donations. SO make a donation. Great place for children to come and learn more about the world around them, including the magnificent wolves. Reservation only to get in, so make sure you research times/dates ahead of your planned outing.

We enjoyed our behavioral enrichment tour though I can’t say it was super interesting. I liked the tour guide’s narration and knowledge. I certainly learned a lot but I was hoping for some more wolf action. I guess maybe that’s my fault for having different expectations than what this was. Interesting but I wouldn’t come back.

We have visited many times now and are always pleased with our experience. We truly appreciate their focus on the health and well-being of the wolves. In fact, you have to make reservations (limited spots) and the wolves are kept far off the main road, which requires the reserved groups to follow an escort by vehicle. Again, measures taken in consideration of the wolves. So, be patient and respectful. Also, we enjoy how they rotate the tour guides because we always learn something new. They encourage questions- they love the wolves and love talking about them! I recommend joining the Wild Wolf Pack! This membership covers admission for 4 people (individual, dual and other groups up to 10 people are offered too). The Wolf Conservation Tour is included with your membership and you get a deep discount on the Behavioral Enrichment Tour. It’s well worth it. Just wanted to add that Thor is our favorite Mexican Gray Wolf and Poppy is our favorite Northern American Gray Wolf! Did I mention you can sponsor a Wolf? Yes, you can! Please check out their website for even more information and opportunities to support these beautiful animals! Please note, that they are a non-profit organization.

Bit expensive on the surface, but we'll worth it once you understand the great conservation work they do. We we very fortunate to be able to just turn up, but you normally have to book. The best part of the whole thing was we hung out chatting to the staff till dusk, and got to hear the wolves howling! That was the Staffs suggestion so very accomadating , seeing as they probably other things to do rather than just talking with me and my son. We are going again today, can't wait.

Give them a call. If they are doing a tour on the 21st, then you can sign up and pay right there on the phone with them. All of their tours are by appointment only.
In Julian CA it's $75 for 2 people
We are dedicated to return wolves back to the wild so not touching, petting. You will be a fence line away.
their primary mission is to return wolves to their natural habitat. so, no it is not a sanctuary; even though, they do have several permanent wolves.
Yes you can
Depending on the time of your tour will determine the activity of the wolves. Morning & evening they are more active. We went for the 3:00 tour and it was hot so they were not very active, just hung out in the shade, but you could see them. The 2nd group of wolves walked back & forth in front of us rubbing (scent marking) the fencing. Enjoy your visit.

They have different times for different shows. Once you sign up they will tell you want time they will meet the group just outside their area. They will then do a caravan style drive in.
It's not interactive like that, but we were probably no more than 6 feet away from the wolves when they came up to the edge of the enclosure. Definitely worth the trip to see them.
Walker is a definite yes. Chair can go on trails too. Chair will give you a comfy seat too. It is definitely worth it.
They have volunteers working there. I'm sure they are looking for more. Give them a call.
The wolves are most active when the temperatures are cooler, although they can also be unpredictable! Tours are 1.5 hours.
They try to preserve the wolves' wild nature since many ultimately will be reintroduced to the wild so, no, you cannot physically touch them, be in the enclosures, or interact with them much. You can however take photos from behind the fence.
We now have two locations, both in Julian. Our Conservation Center is located 4 miles south of Main Street, and our Visitor Center and Nature Store is located on B Street in Julian.
Questions like this one should be asked directly to the company. This media asked to the public at large and may not be seen by the company. Try using their website and looking for an email address.
No you have to go in with the group during the tour.
Not tamed. But there are a couple of them who are in a smaller enclosures who are not afraid to come up to the fence and look at us humans
