When Mi Barrio initially opened several years ago the food was great, service was great, AND the sanitation score was always above a 95+, for the past few years their score has been a rollercoaster dipping as low as into the high 80’s. Today I walked in and walked out as currently they are sitting at a 90. I know we don’t truly know what happens in any restaurants kitchen; however when you walk into any restaurant and you see a low sanitation score that gives me a enough pause to go on about my business. The ladies are always friendly and eager to assist, and their food in the past has been good. If you’re someone that doesn’t care much about sanitation ratings then try it out.

I love to visit this spot when I’m in Charlotte on the east side. Blackened Tilapia or curry chicken and the Mac and cheese is a must 😋

Save your money, time and probably your health too and just don’t… visited for the first time and last time yesterday. The Mac and cheese was salty and the stew chicken was undercooked and cold! The cabbage was greasy. All of the grease and salt did it for me and not in a good way. The portion was big but what does that matter when you can’t enjoy the food. I should have turned around and walked out when I realized how dim the lighting was inside. Not a good sign for an establishment selling food to the public. How can you see what your cooking/ serving. Nothing about the food tasted “clean”. I wish I could get my $15 back but I’ll chalk it up and just stay away. I do not recommend!

Research Charlotte

The taste of the food is good sometimes and hit/miss other times. The price of the goat meat & ox tail plates should match (or at least, come close to) the serving amount. Rarely do they provide enough servings of meat and sides (unless its rice) for the price they charge. The attached image shows their "slim picking" portions. If you request more of a portion, get ready for attitude. Over priced compared to portion of food given. Therefore, 2-star rating.
