Went for the Guo Pei exhibit. So amazing! Gorgeously presented work. I normally burnt out after an hour at a museum but this one was very engaging. Her work is incredible. The pictures don't do it justice.

Such a wonderful local Museum. I have been going my whole life with family. I am going again next month. The have an amazing permanent collection. I enjoy the Rodin sculptures, he many beautiful oil paintings and the pottery collection.

A very nice museum situated on stunningly beautiful grounds. Each time period is represented by a small number of works. The Rodin collection is very impressive and takes up several rooms. The entire museum can be seen in a couple of hours.

A must-visit for anyone who is an aficionado for central European art, particularly French. First off, if you're a resident of the Bay, you have free admission on Saturdays, so if you're looking for a tasteful after-lunch activity, this is a wonderful choice. Parking directly in front of the museum is rather limited, but just go a bit further in and down a short hill to find more roadside parking. If you happen to be an Impressionist or Monet fan, this is a must visit, as they house one of his water lilies works. They also feature side-exhibits that rotate depending on whatever the focus of the month is. At the time I visited, there was an exhibit featuring England's attempt at imitating porcelain.

Everymonth 1st Tuesday
Lots of free parking around and cars leaving flow pretty regularly.
No
General admission is free the first Tuesday of every month. Special exhibition fees still apply.
I recommend the The Laurel Inn in Laurel Heights or perhaps the Inn at the Presidio. However both hotels are an hour walk to the Legion of Honor. However, Laurel Heights is north of golden gate park and south of the Legion of Honor. There are public buses and Lyft and Uber are also options. I strongly suggest staying as far away from Union Square as possible as it is quite terrible. If you are interested in the Legion of Honor I suggest you also consider the DeYoung Museum, the conservatory of Flowers and the Japanese garden. Which are all in Golden Gate Park.
Wheelchairs are available, first come first serve basis
Before COVID Bank of America and Target had free first Sundays of the month. Some events are free for residents.
Yes if you are resident of one of the 7 bay area counties
Don't know, but I would say yes.
We didn't need them, but it can't hurt.
I believe "yes" for the cafe but not the museum
I truly do not know. I also suffer an need help. I think you need to call them direct to find out. I wish you luck.
Yes one gallery of impressionists.
Yes. Good food.
"Pax Jerusalem" by Mark di Suvero
There's a great little chinese restaurant down the street. Reasonably priced. Tsing Tao 3107 Clement St #1615, San Francisco, CA 94121
The court has a gate up front, so I am guessing not.
Yes they take cash, but if you're a SF resident they do have a free Saturday
Unfortunately, No. The museum staff are all assigned duties which leaves no time to help push visitors around in wheelchairs. The museum is spacious, lots of room to manuever around.
You could call Muni 311 for assistance. They are great with transportation information. :)
No. Just make sure you can disable flash.
Free parking, no time limit, on street north of the museum too
Free parking is available around the fountain in front of the museum or along El Camino del Mar. That's according to their website, so I'm pretty sure there's no time limit.
"Truth and Beauty", an exquisite showing of Pre-Raphaelite and Old Master paintings.
First Tuesday of every month is free general admission to permanent collection. Fees still apply for special exhibitions.
All museums require you to stay back from the artwork by a specific distance. If you want to go to museums to see art, you have to follow their rules. If it happens just once, you probably will be okay. If you continue to violate the required distance, expect the guards to watch you carefully. The Museum's have to protect their art. They have no idea who you are or what your intentions are. Follow the rules. Otherwise just get a book or go online.
No, you can just buy the special exhibit ticket. It covers both the special exhibit you paid for and the permanent exhibits.
I would suggest u call them to find out
There are different levels, but generally access to both Legion of Honor and the De Young, including special exhibitions
Yes, some special exhibits restrict photos but not currently.
Not necessary, but helpful if you do.
Yes next to the buildings. Although get there early.
