Unlike Mr. Negativity, Cliff L., we found Villa Escondido (511 E Grand in Escondido CA, not San Diego, or on Juniper, which Cliff L. might be reviewing in error) a very clean, well maintained and well-located low-income housing project. We applied for residence there about a year ago and were put on a waiting list at #70 as I recall. We were about to give up on finding a 1BR affordable unit that met our standards as our one-year lease was about to expire at the end of March, '18. We were called a few days ago with the offer and put down a refundable deposit and a $40 per person credit/background check. We are patiently awaiting word of our approval and are looking forward to saving a lot of money on our rent and utilities, as well. Rent is the only payment we will have with the exception of cable TV, Internet and phone which will run about $140 per.month. the rental agents are quite nice and informative people, but be prepared for lots of government required paperwork! I'll update this review depending on our approval and a few months of residence there to let you know how it's going. Thanks for looking.
