The staff were organized and friendly. The school bus ride was a little dicey, but fun.🙂.. The staff helped us get our coolers into the tubes. The trip down the river was relaxing and fun. Our crew had a great time today.

We had an amazing time yesterday here! The employees were all amazing and the bus driver and her music on the trip to the drop off was a highlight. My 13 & 15 year old boys enjoyed every minute. There are less stopping/break points than some other tubing trips we’ve done so with kids just plan for that accordingly. My oldest saw a bunch of big fish which was his favorite part. There were good stretches of rock free float which was great. We were lucky with the rain! The store has anything you could need last minute like all the expected stuff but even froggies and dry bags and water shoes etc. We had to cancel day 2 because my son wasn’t feeling well and they were kind enough to offer me a gift certificate good for all next season in spite of it being so last minute. All in all great trip, great customer service, can’t wait to come back 💯

Paddled this past Tuesday with the James River Reeling and Rafting Co. Tuesday was a perfect day for paddling. Temps were in the low 80s and there were no clouds and therefore no rain. We did the 1/2 day paddle in an Old Town canoe. Equipment was in great condition. Outfitter shuttled us upriver about 7 miles. The staff was friendly, knowledgable, and very helpful. They gave us pointers for handling the class I rapids we would encounter and suggested a good take out point to break for lunch. The scenary was excellent. We saw no other paddlers, but did see people in tubes on the last half. The take out point where we ended our paddle was where we left our car which was very convenient. The staff made this trip effortless. We had a great time and look forward to next time. We highly recommend James River Reeling and Rafting Company.

Hi Casey. Typically it depends on river levels at the time of your trip but early season with higher water, our tubing run takes 2 to 3 hours and later/low water season is 3 hours plus. This is on our 4 mile Hatton to Scottsville stretch. Hope this helps!
Yes unfortunately our schedule shifts as we lose all of our staff after Labor day, so it's just myself and my 1 year old. But we are open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays until it gets too cold!

You can bring your own tubes and Just have a buddy leave a vehicle at the end where you plan to get out. you can float w out the reeling and rafting crew.
I dont know if this is the absolute best or not, but it is definitely convenient. They have reasonably priced rentals and will drive you up river to float back to your car / campsite.
