Such a kind and loving place we have had 3 cats from here over the last 8 years. All have been cared for. The cost for have a cat adopted is cheap compared to the level of care. If you ever want to give to a cause they are always excepting.

Great place! Wonderful employees there and most are knowledgeable about the animals they have. They also have a pet pantry which is so beneficial to some people they offer cat and dog food. Sometimes they have stuff for other animals, sometimes they have toys, collars, and leashes you can get, sometimes they even have crates for puppy training.. great place

My mother and I visited the Bangor Humane society yesterday, on 3/21/2022. When we went in, I told the girl that we would like to see what dogs they had for adoption. I was told I could see through the window, and feel free to go in either door also. I was not offered information, guidance, or even asked if I was interested in adopting, no offers of information on any dog or anything. TRUST ME, AFTER WHAT I WITNESSED, IF I COULD HAVE WALKED OUT WITH ALL THE DOGS I WOULD HAVE, and found them homes myself. We were there to witness "feeding" time. I was absolutely appalled at what I was watching. I girl scooping a couple scoops of dog food in a paper bag and dropping the bag into each kennel. Food, FED IN A BROWN PAPER BAG, and dropped in on piles of feces, without a word spoken to these poor dogs. ZERO interaction... ZERO! I watched as each dog chewed away at the paper bag, through feces and all, to get to their food. I had to wonder how long it would be before they were given any water, as the water dishes were empty. You sure can't throw that inside in a paper sack! I have never been so disgusted in a humane society in my life. With tears in our eyes, we had to leave, we couldn't watch any more. I am sorry that I have ever donated to this humane society! Absolutely Disgusted with this behavior. My heart went out to each of those poor dogs. I CAN'T BELIEVE GOOGLE REQUIRES TO LEAVE AT LEAST ONE STAR!

The staff is very standoffish and know nothing about the animals they have in there. Ask any type of question and they seem rude and put out for even bothering them. Every dog kennel in there had multiple piles of fesces and reeked. I felt so bad for the doggos in there. When I inquired about volunteers they said they were at max on staffing. I find this hard to believe and if so, then they need new staff that will actually tend to and care for these animals!

I dont now if the humane society will do that try the Aspca dose dog rescues first call the Police
Hey there! There is actually no such thing as a certificate in regards to service dogs. Service dogs are task trained animals and are considered medical equipment. It sounds like you’re referring to an emotional support animal. The only thing you need is a letter from your doctor, or therapist stating that.
Sometimes there a discounts, or days when you can just come and adopt one without the paperwork and the hassle, but there are no "free" animals.
I do believe they would love to have them
The humane society offers vouchers for spay/neuter procedures. But not for shots
Hi Sharon I don't work there, but please be cautious posting your phone number publicly. They do have you visit with the animals and they watch the interactions with them. Good luck. Probably can't depend on being able to bring the pet home right away. They want to make sure that you are a good fit.
No. They ask for a donation, but it isn't mandatory.
You could call or check the website. I'm sure inventory changes daily. Good luck
Pretty much like Vicki mentioned. The have a short application that asks about your current pets situation as well as your experience. Stop in and find the dog or cat you love and speak with one of the representatives at the humane society and they will take good care of you.
Daisy Curtis, the humane Society is open until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the hours are 12-6 as well on Saturday. The society is closed on Sundays. Does this help?
What kind of dogs. They may try no garentee
Honestly, you should go down there or go to the website.. I hope this answer your question..
Best thing ti do is call. They have specials . and free adopt a pet days.... U already got differant prices.... Just give a call
I believe it's $400 for puppy up to 6mo
Hi Richard, that shouldn't be a problem. All animals adopted from BHS will have a rabies vaccination certificate, which appears to be the only certification you'll need for a personally owned pet. As long as your home environment matches what we believe to be the best fit for a dog, then we would consider our Canadian neighbors through the same "first come, best fit" lens as all other prospective adopters. Looking forward to seeing you!
I have noticed they seem to be way behind on the vet checking the fur babies out b4 they can be adopted unfortunately uggh I witnessed on a couple occasions people wanting to adopt a kitty but couldn't because it needed to be see. By vet first that same kitty was still there a week and a half later still waiting to see vet so it could finally find its forever home SO SAD AND FRUSTRATING
Yes, they require you to bring in something that shows you're on state assistance like Maine Care and set up an appointment with your vet and they'll give you a coupon towards the surgery. They're super nice about answering questions too if you want to make sure you have what you need
Kittens up to 6 months are $200 and 7 - 11 months are $150. These figures are posted on-line, but at times they have specials. Please give them a call. I don't work there, just trying to help. Price is reasonable for everything it covers. And the people are nice to talk to.
Yes. Definitely they will help you 🤗
Go to the website ❤ there are so many beautiful babies on there
Nope, open and under renovation and out of room....
Call the animal control officer in that town.( Call the town hall)
The humane society does not have a vet on site. They won’t be able to help unfortunately
That breed of dog rarely comes in to the humane society. When they do get pugs in they go to a new home rather fast.
Thanks! 😁
It all depends on how old they are, puppies are like 250, year olds are like 200, up to like five are like 100, older than that is up to them. I'm not 100% on those figures but it's something like that.
You could surrender him to the shelter as long as they have space
The Bangor Humane Society only opens at 12:00 PM
You should call them.
Not usually but sometimes they do. They are usually immediately adopted so they don't stay long.
Always
Call the human society they will direct you where to go.
The humane society in Bangor is a really good place to look. The staff there make it very easy to adopt. You could also sign up to do dogy day out, this so you can get to know the animal , this way you can make a better decision... Wish you the best
No they do not. I just got a kitten there..all they ask for is your id!
You have to call the shellter
No. They dont
Our volunteers must be 16-years-old or older to volunteer without an adult. Individuals under the age of 15-years are more than welcome to volunteer as well, and must to be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21-years-old.
Yes
They will do an income based waiver. I got $60 off for two cats. $60 off each cat.
I believe they foster all types of pets
There is no fee to bring in an animal. They will ask a few questions and you will sign papers. But no charge that I'm aware of and I've given pets over to BHS in the past.
Definitely call them as many times as you possibly can until you get through.
There is no waitlist. It’s first come, best fit
You can go to their website to get more information about volunteering at the shelter. They would probably appreciate the help. I would try to call them during their open hours to get a quick response
Yes based on income. Just go in and talk to them about it and they may have an app for you to fill out.
Not sure, would have to ask them directly, but I don't see why they wouldn't
I did but they never call me about the voucher Conway said you could do it over the phone and set a time
What has worked for me in past with the Bangor location is to continuously check their website, if for dogs cats or any other love giving animal ... Good luck
Yes they do
Bangor Humane Society has a list of dogs available for adoption on their website. That would be the best place to check.
I'm not sure if the Bangor Human Society would do for you.
I heard broadway vets are good
Bangor veterinary is fairly reasonable
You would have to go check. They have a very big inventory!!
Call us
We do have at least one hound mix, but nothing that specific. Please check out our website at bangorhumane.org to see who’s available!

The first person who should be contacted is the local animal control officer. You can get their number from the town office.
Are you looking for lost dogs or looking for dogs to adopt? If they are lost, check with your animal control officer and see where strays are taken. It may not be BHS, depending on the town you are from.
We have dogs from a puppy to a adult.. Please check out the website or stop by..
You can look on the website. They range in from a puppy and older.. For dogs
Linda I'm not sure.. Either checked on the website or go there and ask.
