I checked on the internet to find out what the office hours are at DHS. It showed 8 to 6 Monday thru Friday. I drove 13 miles in to town only to find the office was closed. This was very irritating, especially with gas prices almost four dollars a gallon.

The staff here is top-notch, they definitely want to help people. The branch itself is a relic these days, especially for a city the size of Eugene. There is NO place for homeless people to charge devices, there are only a few PC stations, and all are closed due to the tiny size of the branch, so little help for those needing to use them for job hunting, etc. There is no courtesy phone for outgoing calls to be made by the homeless or down on their lucks, and due to COVID and the site's very small size, this branch can do little more than be informative, and process the usual needs there. The heads at the top need to move on replacing this DHS site with one like the Roseburg DHS, the current office is WAY too small for a city like Eugene. That place is a testament to Oregon's dedication to her people, and just how much she cares about the homeless problem, and about helping everyone that is trying to survive their hardships. I've seen DHS make a real difference, with the other services like food pantries, St Vincent's, etc, that has kept people alive, put them back on their feet, and seen them safely self sufficient and contributing. Please get this site replaced with an upgrade appropriate for Eugene, which is currently housing a heck of alot of homeless. 🐯♥️

Horrible. The only consistent thing about this DHS office is how awful their customer service is. They never answer the phones, literally. And when I applied for OHP and scheduled a phone interview, they never called me! This is the third time I have applied for or had to reapply for something and made these phone interviews that they never follow through with! Three times, with three different services(OHP, TANIF, SNAP), and each time they never called me for my interview. Generally the staff is very friendly, there’s one or two administrative staff that are pretty impatient and rude but overall the staff is nice but they are not helpful or reliable whatsoever

I would give a 0 if I could. I have never met or dealt with a more disorganized and rude people at dhs than this branch right here. I did and turned in everything I was supposed to on time and still I have not received my food stamps that I was supposed to get on the 1st. As a single mother who works almost everyday to provide for my three girls we do depend on the food stamps we get every month as we live from paycheck to paycheck. I get no support or extra income from anyone and try to feed my children as best as I can. I am still getting told that they are still doing paperwork and I may or may not hopefully get my food stamps by the end of the month. They need to either hire more people or set people aside if they don't want to meet with you to work on the paperwork that gets turned in. This is getting ridiculous at this point.

Actually there are other reasons besides children and disability to be unemployed and for those curcumstances there should be consideration
Usually senior and disabled serv does all that at their office. Ive personally done that there
Usually if the call takes more than 15-20 minutes then you'll have to call them back. Just like every other company.
Yes
If you have one that does not read then yes. Other wise you have to call the number for a replacement
You'll fill out an application in person at an office or online here: https://apps.state.or.us/onlineApplication/ They'll ask for paystubs if you have a job, your ID, proof of address and if I remember correctly either an SSN or birth certificate for everyone in your family. I've noticed that going into the office seems to get things done a little quicker.
Just go to the office and get an application or go online
Yes you can.
SNAP covers NUTRITION shakes/drinks. I.e; Ensure, Boost, etc. You CANNOT purchase SUPPLEMENT shakes/drinks with SNAP. Pay very close attention to the nutrition/supplement labels! Also, be aware that even though the pre-made shakes/drinks may be covered by FS, the powders may not be. Such is the case with the Pure Protein brand. The pre-made has a 'Nutrition' label & the powder has a 'Supplement' label. I have no clue as to why, but it is a frustration like no other! Most often, the powder is a better deal for the money, even when mixing it into things other than water.
No it's not
Unless you have a child or children. You can not get cash assistance. If you have all of what you said you had. You should get something from a doctor staying that you do have all of that. Then try applying for Social Security and Disability. But you would have to wait for along time to get benefits if you do qualify for it. Good luck
yes
Medical insurance? You would need to talk to someone in the office. Let them know exactly what you need they are always friendly and helpful.
