My fur baby has been on Darwin’s for a span of 7 months. However, we momentarily left the nation, and I’ve noticed a huge difference in her without Darwin’s pet food products. One- she has terrible bad breath and tar build up (it’s been a struggle having to brush her teeth on a daily, and makes me miss these amazing products more) Two- lethargic and tires easily. Three- throws up from time to time and may possibly have tummy issues (however not severe). While on Darwin’s, I have not experienced any of these issues and it saddens me that they can’t ship out internationally. Nonetheless, I am happy I started her with this raw diet because her soft fur remains consistent (: This company stands by its word and provides a convenience and beneficial services for you and your fur baby. We are grateful for the positive impact we’ve experience with your products and hope others more will too.

I have been using Darwin's dog food for years. I had to switch to the kidney support formula 1 year ago because my dog went into kidney failure. For the last 8-10 months I have numerous issues with shipping delays and sending cat food instead of dog food. I live in Las Vegas. Darwins used to ship to desert areas overnight during the hot times of year. I have had numerous shipments that took 3-4 days for me to receive. The dry ice was not present, the food was warm and thawed. This has happened twice in the last 2 weeks. I was sent a replacement shipment last week. You would of thought they would of sent it overnight. Instead it was shipped on Friday or Saturday on a holiday weekend, everything closed on Monday. I did not receive the shipment until Tuesday, hot, no ice and completely thawed out. Every time I ask to speak with a supervisor. I am told no one is available and will get a return call. No one calls! This time i was told that a replacement shipment would not be sent until I speak with a supervisor. Still waiting for a call and about to run out of food. I believe Darwins is a great product. This is the only food my dog will eat. She has been eating it since she was a young. She is 9 yrs old now. I had to switch to Darwins because other dog food caused allergies and GI issues. I am very concerned with the customer service and quality control from Darwins at this point. 2 months ago I was sent regular cat food instead of kidney support for canines. If a problem develops with a company and it is.brought to their attention you would think the problem would be resolved. Not in this situation. It sounds like they are having quality control issues and wonder how safe the food is at this point.

Highly recommend! Their customer service is very friendly and helpful, seems like a small operation with lots of personal attention. My cat is very senior and my vet recommended we convert her to a kidney diet, but after several months of trying several different types of kidney food, and her barely eating during all those months, we filled out the Darwin's prescription form with our vet and she loves it. I did need to cook it and hand feed her the first time to get into it (I still cook it for her since she's so senior), but she's finally eating really well! Now, every time we go to the vet they comment on how well she is doing (and how unusual it is that her kidney numbers improved!), especially for her senior age. Given other reviews I also want to mention that I've never had a billing issue or complaint. I don't have an automatic subscription, I email customer service when we need to place an order, and they place the order, send me the tracking info and bill me. In part I think this is because their prescription food is handled a little differently on their site (and again - it seems like a smaller operation). But I'm sure you could do the same if you reach out directly to customer service rather than starting a subscription on their site.

edit: Darwin's corrected the issue. Thanks! Darwin's is forcing customers to accept raw meat that was not handled according to USDA safe handling protocols (i.e. that was thawing in an ambient container above refrigerator temperature, which is unsafe). My shipment of raw pet food arrived late (delayed delivery) in unsafe condition. The ice packs were melted, half of the packs of food (of 4 pouches each) were completely melted and above 40F, meaning the shipping container itself was above refrigerator temperature. Darwin's told me to basically pick through and use the rest and would not refund that portion. Every pack of meat I buy at the store tells me on the "safe handling" instructions to thaw the meat in the fridge or somewhere under 40F, because meat doesn't thaw uniformly (!!!) and if you thaw it somewhere warmer, some parts of the meat (such as the outer edges) can be at unsafe temperatures of over 40F even if it seems to still be under 40F. I've had exactly this experience last year when I got meat for human consumption in this condition (delayed shipment that was half-melted) -- we tried to save some that seemed under 40F, but got sick from eating it. The meat I got was not in this safe condition - many parts of the shipment were at temps over 40F! I threw it all out because I'm afraid to feed it to my elderly cat. The customer service has quit responding to me. They might try to claim food is safe if under 40F, but this only applies if the whole shipment stayed under 40F so you can be sure no parts of the meat were above 40F. It's impossible to test every corner of every packet and meat doesn't thaw uniformly. This is why you have to thaw meat in a fridge and not on the counter. It's basic food safety.

Questions & Answers

My last shipment came in the box you once had that was completely recyclable. There was no return label in it. Last few shipments have come with a return label and I have sent the boxes back. What shall I do with this type of box now?

Hi Janeen, we have recently changed our packing style, and are using fully recyclable boxes, so you don't need to send it back to us and can recycle it.
