The staff at Parmer Woods North Austin are doing things right. From the administrator to the housekeeping staff, everyone I met was so friendly and the building is bright & cheery. I can tell there is a lot of joy in the building.

Michelle was wonderful give nag me updates on my mom and telling me she is helping mom to get her dirty clothes in the hamper so these can be laundered. Michelle also is working on helping mom get dressed

Update 9/25/22: •while there continue to be some great caregiving staff, It is necessary to share that our loved one now has a broken hip and is bedbound - which means regular checks are pretty important for safety. Last night, no one even stepped into her room from about 10p to 6a. That should be alarming. Hopeful that this can be turned around. Update 5/13/22: •It’s unclear to families who the new Executive Director is. The last left around the beginning of March. •Email updates to families are very inconsistent. •The MC hvac system has been problematic all year (resident rooms are fine, but hallways and dining areas are problematic - the dining area has 2 portable a/c units but nothing is in the hallways). •There still are hardworking, caring staff and I have appreciated talking with the new MC/Wellness Directors - but we are in one year’s time: on director #3. •I visit frequently and am received with a welcome which is appreciated every time. I do also find it common, unfortunately, for me to fill the gap by cleaning up our family member’s room, change the sheets, bring full dirty laundry to the laundry room •My hope would be to see additional funding for a better staff to resident ratio and better compensation for staff, a follow through on ending hiring out to agency, more training for staff, and repairs actually completed. — Update: 3/16/22: the caregiving staff has worked hard to support the resident and ours to majorly improve the situation. There are several care staff and front desk staff that are the reason we’ve stuck around. There are still the courtyard concerns that have yet to be addressed and furniture that needs serious cleaning. — Update 2/24/22: the courtyard has broken lights and residents are able to walk outside and risk injury. I have brought this up multiple times to administration and have only been told they are working on it (for months now). Moved our LOWD into Parmer Woods in August 2021. It’s now Feb 2022. Overall a good experience with caring staff. Unfortunately, the past week has led to another resident punching/scratching our LOWD and in the midst of this being worked on (it is memory care and things like this can happen) I learned of a major management turnover. There is great potential but I am concerned for our LOWD’s safety. Happy to update the review once the safety issue is addressed to satisfaction.
