DO NOT BUY LAWN MOWERS FROM THEM. I spent $2600 before tax on a Toro Zero Turn 42" mower. I have never spent that kind of money on something to take care of my yard before and expected it to be a fun experience to have a nicer lawn mower. I spent extra money renting a UHAUL truck and trailer when free delivery was included so I didn't have to wait the extra 2-3 weeks for it to be delivered. After getting it home and carefully reading through the instruction manual, I spent an hour and a half trying to get it to start. I'm fairly sure the battery is dead but I don't have a volt meter to test it. The mower does not turn over at all when turning the key. I made sure all the built in safeties were satisfied and poured through the manual another 2 times thinking I had missed something. I put gas in the tank and checked the oil level. I took the engine cover off and discovered the main drive was all rusted and was in contact with a part that it shouldn't be in contact with! I called and the Home Depot managers won't send a truck to come get it because they didn't deliver it! So they expect me to spend more money on a UHAUL to return a defective product that they sold me as "brand new". You can decide for yourself if the pictures below look brand new or not. Needless to say, I will never buy a lawn mower or anything else they are showing off outside from Home Depot again. UPDATE: I called customer service and they told me even though it was FREE DELIVERY I passed on using, they would not pick it up for free because they didn't deliver it. This is realistically a scam at this point. They sold me an expensive defective product and won't pick it up without charging me close to $80! So instead of potentially offering to reimburse me for what I spent to have it early, they are now trying to get more money out of me. At this point I'm just completely dumbfounded on how this is ok. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Home Depot does offer installation services for many of the products they sell. They may offer the service you are looking for. Call the store for your best answer.

Presuming that you're talking about the permanent kind that turn on as soon as your power goes out. These are called home backup, emergency or standby generators. One of the first questions you need to answer is if you're going to use liquid natural gas (LNG), liquid propane (LP), or deisel as your fuel. If you already have natural gas coming to your home then this is probably your answer. If you don't then LP is usually the next best fuel, provided there are local companies that can keep your tank filled. Deisel is generally not a good choice because you need a large tank and the fuel can absorb water over time and cause problems. As far as brands go, Generac and Kohler are both excellent and have a long history in the industry. If you're thinking of a portable generator that can be plugged into your home and will automatically turn on when there's a power outage, then I'm not aware of such a thing. But that doesn't mean the don't exist. You'll just have to do some research.
