Nice experience here with a group for a spring birding trip. I thought the food was very good. There were some vegetarian options that could have easily been made vegan. Just be aware that it may be more rustic than some folks like with shared bathrooms. Those who complain about food prices in their reviews are probably not accounting for the expense of operating on an island where all supplies must be brought in by boat.

Alright, so where do I start? Monhegan so picturesque, so Maine. Heads up unless you’re an artist or like watching birds you can see everything the island has to offer in 3-4 hours. $30 lobster roll? No problem fish house. Great lobster roll, but that’s a rip-off. Another thing the locals hate you. They see you as very inconvenient give me the money and leave. However the proprietors of the Monhegan House take it away. Not only do they see you as inconvenient, they will ignore you, dismiss requests, or in Holden’s case just grunt. $267 a night what a waste. Heed my advise people, it’s worth a day trip but not worth staying.

The owners go out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The in-house breakfast and dinner are excellent. Sitting on the front porch after a long day of hiking was relaxing. No complaints at all. I had a wonderful time.

You should check with the individual inns on Monhegan, they vary when the close for the season
Not that I remember. It's pretty spartan, definitely no elevator. I don't think there is a ramp either. Definitely call the very nice owners and ask if that's something you need.
