Wow. If you haven't gone-go! Not only is this nostalgic back to Blockbuster days but it's WAY better than that because of the memorabilia, and the wide variety of films. It's a good time. Even if you don't walk out with anything. It's a museum first and foremost, truly.

The last of the great video stores. Overwhelming in almost every way possible and yet it's the most lovely, passionate piece of nostalgic candy in the city. A must see for everyone. Really cool screenings on Sundays as well in their little theater.

Astounding video rental store with an encyclopedic 80,000 titles on hand in every genre to delight cinephiles. Quirky and definitely inviting filing system by country of film's origin further subdivided into sections devoted to noted directors and acclaimed actors in that region of the world. So carefully curated as to invite hours of browsing. Free memberships and modest $3.00 rental fees for most titles. Select used dvds to buy as well at very fair prices. Film lovers and cinema groupies and movie magic fan flash mobs unite here!

When I lived in town, I used to love coming to browse the offerings and just pick random titles to check out and watch. Some were good, some were bad, but worth it all. I love this place. The employees are great, it's clean. I came again when I was visiting my brother and his wife. Love it. Unisex restroom. Easily accessible.

It says that it is open on the web site. Don't buss it. It is still closed unless you have a previous membership. Then you may order out.....
I wonder if the 'glitch' you're seeing is because the DVD is a VHS rip and VHS players/tapes will sometimes have tracking issues? Roots was a TV series IIRC, so maybe it was never officially released on DVD?
They had it on DVD, I'm sure they still do. Had on Vhs at one time, but that's probably gone. May have the Blu Ray release also as they pretty much carry the Blu Ray release of any DVD they have.
I get mine for 5 days on older disc, 5 days on Tv series boxsets, 2 days on brand new releases
They sell old DVDs when they pare down duplicates. They have a used section toward the front door. This tends to be a rather small section.
I believe that subscription box is unrelated to this Movie Madness.
There is a website with a search enguine for Movie Madness's stock
What Dreams May Come- yes. Dreamcatcher- probably. The great thing about Movie Madness is that even if they do not currently have a movie you are looking for, you can request titles.
VHS tapes do degrade over time and multiple playbacks. If Movie Madness doesn't have it, you can also check the nearby Clinton Street Video rental store (EDITED: CLINTON STREET VIDEO IS NOW CLOSED) and Portland's public library system
They don't do it on site, but if you call them I think there is a place they suggest. I just cant remember the name of it.
Unfortunately it does not look like they carry that title. You can write down that title for recommendation and they might order it. If there is any other title you're seeking. You can search for it on their website or one of their instore computers.
Yes, rent and sell. Plus a walk down movie history lane, with all the memrobilia from movie's from last year to 50 years ago.
Sell and rent movies, might buy if it is a rare title
