There's a reason why I come from quite a distance to do business at Columbia Coin. They are top notch in my book! And Jonathan is a "straight shooter," with valuable experience he's happy to share.

Called three times to enquire on various items this last year. Once I was told to "Check E Bay" for an item then hung up on. Another time I was asking about world silver, and then told that they deal with primarily American coins, and hung up on. The third time I got a younger guy who answered my questions politely... Soooo progress?

The first two times I shopped here the owner was very nice and helpful. In fact on the second visit we exchanged chit chat about about our lives (it’s family owned) and that’s when things got odd. I mentioned that years ago I used to be a missionary, the owner, John, asked me if I was still a Christian, and I said not any more, and he said, that’s too bad. I bought a couple of coins and left. On my third and final visit I entered the store and John is loudly talking with a customer about Jesus and how he likes to email local officials he disagrees with, scriptures. Ten minutes pass and I still haven’t been greeted. The conversation has evolved into fringe gun control politics, and then they get into the COVID-19 and the mask mandate. Then John practically demanded the customers, a father and son, remove their masks and continue shopping without them, which they did. I left after that. If you do go, they have some cool stuff and admittedly, are quite helpful, but keep the conversation casual and keep your mask on. There’s no air-flow in that building and most of the family is old and won’t wear a mask.

If this business is still owned by the same owners a few years ago, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! I would like to be able to give a minus star value to this company. I was in desperate need of money and brought in many, many old silver coins($.05, .10, .25, .50 & 1.00 denominations). I watched my Mother collect a lot of these throughout the years and really didn’t want to have to sell ANY. I was willing to leave my collection(had heard good things about this establishment) and let the coin dealer have a couple of days to determine the value. The old and rude male owner told me he didn’t want to waste his time sifting through all of them just to find nothing of value. However, he did find two coins, just glancing at the coins and said those two have value. He offered the going rate for silver, for the rest. I took it. I figured he probably was right. I recently found a list my Mother had of ALL of her coins she’d collected and kept. There were several of significant value that this GREEDY coin dealer probably sold for a huge profit.
