Have worked with this office on three issues since my retirement. On all three occasions, the people in this office, have been a tremendous help. Walked me through what was needed and even called to give me updates on the progress of the resolution. All three issues were resolved to my satisfaction. Seems like some bad reviews on here. Maybe it is in the approach that is being used by these folks!

I don't know who they have working there but whoever is working my husband's case is clearly incompetent. Just because my tax refund isn't spent in 1 month doesn't mean it's countable income every month until I spend it. Same goes for my stimulus checks. I've literally sent them my bank statements, proof of tax refunds, stimulus, etc, and they still charge him for overpayments! You CAN'T count those things as income!!!! I can save it all year long and you STILL can NOT count it. They're so confused and it's not difficult. I guess I have to sit down with all my info and explain this. This would all be resolved if I could actually go in or they actually answered their phone. Or maybe when they send their letters they could explain where they get their random numbers from that make zero sense. Update! Money is still being counted that shouldn't be because from what the lady working on his appeal said it "confuses" them because I switched bank accounts. How is that my problem? Also lady was extremely rude and we were supposed to have a sit down for appeal as requested and is law! Sit down never happened and the lady only told us she'd call us on Thursday and never said what time or that this was the "official" meeting time! Of course she calls my husband when I'm at the store when she felt like it. Was supposed to call me back and never did so I could be a part of it. So we are definitely appealing again and this time with a hearing as I was thankfully able to find a lawyer who sees how bad they're messing this up! This lady's attitude from day one was sickening. Completely rude and condescending . She made it very clear she was angry she had to do this at all. So that will be addressed in our next appeal as well. We will not stop until this properly taken care of! Also requested where they're getting the numbers from which was also denied to me.

My brother passed away a week ago and I am the one left picking up the pieces and trying to take care of his business. I am asking to be appointed the Personal Representative of his estate, because there is no one else who is competent, not because I want to do this. Thus far I have been unable to find his social security number in his wallet, paperwork or belongings. I called for some direction and never would have expected this kind of an attitude from anyone in a State Office. The funeral home Director needs his SS # and so far have been unsuccessful in getting it. They need it for the death certificate. I will eventually need it to get information so that I can handle his estate. When I called the Social Security Office this morning the woman on staff answering the call wanted to know what I needed it for. I told her and she told me that the funeral home will know exactly what to do. When I assured her that I had just talked them yesterday and was not trying to get anything from my brother, she laughed at me. She was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I will be following up on this because no one should ever be treated that way when they are in this situation. Even you are unable to give them any kind of information, you should always be kind and professional. I sincerely hope that our conversation was recorded. I will be calling Senator King's office to report this.

made a mistake enrolling in Part B early and never used the service because I was covered by work. they sent me bills to pay for Jan 2017 through May 31,2017. I appealed for a May 1 start date because I am retiring May 1. I heard nothing and sent in $670 so that I would have coverage for my supplemental plan requirements. Then they changed my part B start date to June 1 and cashed my check anyway. Now my medicare supplemental plan will not cover me until June 1 because they moved it and now I have no insurance coverage during May at all!!!! the medicare office told me to call social security because they are in charge of the start dates. this is flipping crazy. they would be out of business if they were in a competitive field. now, because I write this they will do something else to me, no doubt. and I am out $670 for no coverage!!!! -

Proof of birth date (certified birth certificate) and proof of identity for the child such as an immunization record or medical record. You will also need proof of identity for the parent who applies for the card (drivers license or state ID.) In the state of Maine, children are enumerated at birth by the hospitals. A card should arrive in the mail within 6 weeks from the date of birth. If that does not happen then you will need to visit your local office with the documents listed above.
