Energy assistance is run a little different than it used to. Before you used to call and make an appointment and come in in that same day you would know if you would get financial help or not for your utilities. Now you walk into the office you grab an application you have to step out of the office into the hallway sit down at the table and fill out your application and go back in line turn in all of your stuff they'll make copies of it and then they tell you that they will contact you in 1 to 2 weeks and then you'll find out if you will receive financial assistance or not. It's kind of stressful before at least you would know if you had it or not but it is what it is. Hopefully we receive some help for our utilities in the past we have gotten help from energy assistance and they are very helpful. 🤞🙏🙃

Amazing place to get emergency assistance. I had my power shut off and I have children, I work two jobs but couldn't afford to pay right away. They paid my bill and had my power back on within two hours. I couldn't have done it without them.

Thank you for your comment George. Due to a lack of Oregon Energy Assistance (OEA) Energy is limited to the number of appointments we are able to schedule for PGE and PP customers. Our phone queue holds 13 callers so if you get through please continue to hold. The phone lines open at 8am and the schedules are filled very quickly. We receive OEA funding monthly. Energy currently has funding available for NW Natural Gas customers too which is received monthly. Thank you, T Campbell Energy Services Director

Call or go to their website. I recommend just calling because their website will have you call them anyway. If you turn in an application make sure you have all the required documents because anything that is left out will just hold up the application process for you. Be prepared to be on hold for a while as I remained on hold for over an hour last time I called them. Hanging up and calling back will not get you through any faster 😼 it will delay your wait time even longer

You might want to call 211 and verify your information is correct. I've never known them to not answer the phone. 211 is a great resource for all sorts of assistance within the Salem community. Good luck!

Why do you have to call Monday mornings? I started calling at 7:30 am it is now 8:36 i have call 375 times and no answer, theres got to be a better way

Energy schedules OEA appointments for PGE and PP once per week, we chose to do so on Mondays. No matter which day appointments are scheduled there would not be enough to meet the need unless there were additional funds available. Our phones open at 8:00 any calls prior to this time will not be added to the que. The que hold 13 calls, when full it will not accept additional calls until there is an opening. We receive hundreds of calls every Monday morning and there is a limited number of appointments available. OEA appointments are usually filled by 9:30 at which time we start a waiting list for the week. Energy's current OEA funding is not sufficient to meet the number of PGE customers requesting assistance. OEA funding is received monthly during the program year; October through September. Energy's phone lines are busiest October through April, funding is available through September.

You can get it twice a year but it depends on how much they give you the first time.

I would maybe even just go in there if you can. They get swamped with calls daily. The sooner you get an appointment the sooner you get the help u need. wait out being on hold or go in. Worth it.
