I was a 30-year member of the Hillcrest facility, a place I could walk to and see friend/regulars. When it closed during Covid, I went to the outdoor Mission Valley outdoor facility. It was OK all things considered. But when Hillcrest closed permanently and Mission Valley reopened inside I realized just how awful this place is (especially in comparison with Hillcrest). The Mission Valley facility is a dungeon. It's dark - no natural light and very little artificial light to compensate. The place is an effing dungeon. Pre-Covid, when I worked out at Hillcrest, I could do drop-sets on a different body part every day. Not in Mission Valley. There really isn't enough free-weight equipment here for those of us who need it. Finally, I know that every 24 Hour franchise is different, but I just can't find the same sort of equipment /machines I used at Hillcrest at Mission Valley. There probably are equivalents, but they're being used by other folks who have migrated to Mission Valley after their own neighborhood facilities have been closed. I want to continue my membership with24 Hour Fitness, but my absolute disgust with the Mission Valley facility's lack of available equipment, and it's dungeon-darkness without any sort of workout music, makes me question my membership. I really miss my daily workouts, but I effing hate trying to work out at the Mission Valley dungeon.

I tried this location for the first time today to see what it was like and the Guy at front desk was not friendly and didn't seem interested in creating a connection through customer service. Its unfortunate because many people choose to go to gyms where the front desk people are professional and give quality communication.

while working out here is entirely possible this is one of the least fun gyms I have ever been to. it has all the charms of a manufacturing plant. a huge, windowless, featureless hall with millions(albeit clean and functional) machines lovelessy stacked together too close for comfort. went there on a Saturday morning around 11 and it was way too busy for my taste. day pass cost me 15 USD.

I will never understand how difficult it is to turn on the fans in this place. I literally have to ask every single day for the employees to turn them on. We're in southern California. In a gym. With 50 sweaty other people. Getting motivated to exercise is difficult enough.
