Clean, well lit, assistance at the ready, many choices among cats. I have had success with beautiful, mixed breeds that seem to present the best of their ancestors. Seems like an oversupply of part-pit-bulls that are not mentioned. Read up & make an informed decision. I was raised with Red Irish Setters & they were supposed to be nuts, immature, never slow to spook/flush a covey too soon or too late & I loved the breed because they ran prettier than any quarter horse. Good luck.

We had an amazing experience with the Humane Society adopting a cat last week. They helped us look at all the different cat rooms and were very knowledgeable about the animals, and honest about medical or behavioral needs. Donna especially knew the cats really well and was very helpful. We did our adoption with Kourtney and she walked us through all the steps clearly, made sure we got everything we needed, and made sure to find someone from the shelter who knew the scaredy-cat we were adopting to help her get into a carrier with minimal fear. That kitty has blossomed in our home and we are so thankful for the Humane Society's help in finding our perfect cat!

In January of this year we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to put our sweet fur-baby down to rest, and the staff I encountered at the Spokane Humane Society were phenomenal! They were able to accommodate us on a Sunday, and they were SO patient with me while I was bawling hysterically. They wouldn’t allow me to be in the room while they put her down (it’s legally prohibited, from what I understood) but they did allow me to hold my baby while they sedated her so that she was never conscious of me not being there, and that was just as well. Thank you SO much for that, Amy! We chose to take her home and bury her under my favorite tree, and they brought her out discreetly wrapped in a little blanket. Putting a pet down is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and their patience and compassion was so greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Genevieve and donna lilly black is doing amazing adjusted super fast and is not scratching except for her kitty tree and has taken over the house in a good way she's eating and drinking regularly we're doing great!!!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
I think you definitely can. Call them :-)
Unfortunately they won't come out to your car, or let you stay in the room when they put them down to end their suffering, I asked - begged, pleaded. In some ways I was a little relieved because it is so difficult to be there, regardless of the fact that we feel as though they are our babies and it is our responsibility to be there with them. But, everyone at the Spokane Humane Society are animal lovers and they are very kind and understanding. I am so very sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you.
Volunteers always needed! The animals appreciate it too! :)
Valley Vet is very compassionate & take great care of your pet. They allow you to be in the room with your pet. They put your pet on a nice blanket on the floor. They then give your baby a sedative to relax him/her. You stay with him/her and love your baby with with no one in the room. They then knock & ask if you are ready. They inject the drug that stops the heart. You can choose to stay with your pet afterwards. I usually did until I could compose myself. Keep in mind your pet loves you unconditionally. Being with them & letting them go is your gift to them. I know you can choose to take your pet or have a group cremation or pay extra to have them cremated with their remains returned to you. You will need to call & make an appointment. The front desk gals are great. My heart goes out to you as this is a hard thing to do.
p
You can owner surrender at the Spokane Humane Society off of Havana. You need to call and make an appointment first. I volunteer up there so this is the truth.
You have to call and set an appointment
You can or get ahold of Spokanimal if your city or Scraps in the county.. both are Animal control.. and I agree, hard to prove but maybe putting some pressure on them will help the pup
Its touch and go. Best bet is to call them
When you are on their website and you see the dog that you want to go visit just click on the little link that says learn more. That will open up the dogs personal page which will tell you the location of the dog and a link that you can get directions to the dog which would tell you exactly where the dog is located it should also give you a phone number of the shelter or petsmart that the dog is at, It will also tell you the age, gender, color, size, and a pet ID number if you take the pet ID number and call any petsmart they can tell you exactly where that dog is located by the pet ID. I hope this was helpful to you.
I just went through the same thing with a cat even took it to my vet only had her for 10 days had to put her down today and they wonder why people go through breeders for dogs and cats nope never again will I adopt from the shelters in spokane...
Yes they have a few.
A law has been passed that makes it illegal for dogs to be kept outdoors for longer than half an hour during extremely hot or cold temperatures. Owners can't leave their petstied up if it's colder than +0 degrees Celsius or warmer then +32 degrees.
Not illegal but its inhumane
Spokanehumanesociety on n Havana charge 12$ per shot
The Spokane Humane Society has a shot clinic every Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Not sure about licensing there, but it can be done at SCRAPS.
I believe you can take them there, but call first. If they're cute, and if fate is kind, the kittens may be adopted by others. Cute kittens and puppies have better odds in that way. If you go that route, I suggest you "sponsor" some or all of the kittens with a donation to the Humane Society. That donation will help give the Society the means to feed and keep the kittens available for adoption for a longer period of time, thus greatly improving the kittens' odds. And of course, I do suggest calling the Spokane Humane Society to confirm they have the available room before you go down. Space is limited there.
You can call scraps
I would call a vet and ask them. I have Critters Care.
Yes. But to volunteer you must complete orientation. A few hours on a Saturday morning. All are welcome to come in and pet the cats. You can also use your car keys as collateral and walk the dogs. To be a true volunteer you must attend orientation though.
This is a question for your vet
Yes
What is the best place to take your cat to be spayed?? I have read horrible reviews on so many places. I have put this off too long. Thank you so much in advance!
For 2 dogs you have to set up appointment. Also depends if they have room as well. You could always reach out to your local Facebook community pages to see if they can be rehomed but go ahead and give them a call it's worth a shot and your situation is completely understandable
No appt needed. Go thru front door stop at reception and ask for them. They open at 1pm. So very sorry for your loss 💔🖤
Find instructions for signing up to foster on the SHS website. Some requirements can be met online.
I don't know if they do or not. I'm sure if you call they can tell you if they do or not?
I would look on their website under adoption. Then you can see where the dogs are and their breeds and age.
Yes, they can always use blankets and towels. Thank you!
Are you still looking for a cat? I have one that needs to be rehomed asap.
They do this, not sure how much, but you can call them. Wonderful people here to help you.
Call fish and game, the humane society doesn't handle squirrels
Spokane Humane Society does not take stray cats, sorry. SCRAPS is where you need to take her as they are the agency for strays. SHS would refer you to them anyway. You can Google SCRAPS for information. Hopefully this helps you. Bless you for taking the momma cat in and finding good homes for her babies. ❤🐈
I believe so!
Thank you for reaching out. You will find the costs for our end of life services on our website. https://spokanehumanesociety.org/euthanasia-and-cremation
This is what is currently posted on the website. Adoption fees make sure we can provide medical care, food, and shelter to the animals in our care. When you adopt from the Spokane Humane Society, you are receiving more than $315 worth of services included in your dog’s adoption fee and more than $235 included in your cat’s adoption fee. Our most popular pets have higher adoption fees in order to support animals in our care that need specialized medical care or training in order to find a loving home. Call SCRAPS because they are the official animal control of the county.
Call scraps,or Spokane humane society
I do not believe so, they spay & neuter before adopted out which is included it the adoption fee.
City
I dont think you can get one for free I would call and ask they may be willing to work with you
Post it on Facebook someone will get them
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3-4:30 at the vet clinic.
Call crime check
No they do not buy animals at all. They are a animal rescue service.
Sorry, that's a question you should really call them direct with.
I called Dr.Clark. With Critters and something. He came out to the house and did it there in home. Not sure how much it will cost I know they asked if it was a big dog versus a small but for ours it was only 60. Some places charge for the shots, the disposal and all kinds of stuff so by the time you leave you are getting a 2nd mortgage just to pay for it and still heart broken over the loss.
This place actually does care about where the dogs go cause they don't want them going to unfit homes and having to rehome them over and over... If your looking 4 a quick unfit dog go to Scraps where they sell you sick animals!!!
You have to xall animal control
This is a no kill facility! I found my forever friend here!!
It depends on how bad he is. Some things are better to put down then suffer as sad as it is. They will try their best to heal him but there is only so much they will do.
I adopted a dog in January and the process was very easy. I am a senior citizen and they give seniors a 50 percent discount. I took my furever friend home that day. There were many sweet dogs there looking out their cages so sad..they need people like you and me. Please follow your heart and help one of them
Send photos. Is he chipped. HUMANE SOCIETY CAN CHECK THAT.
It depends on when the last time she was at the vet. Scraps will release an animal to the owner after signing a waiver that states you will seek medical assistance within 24-48 hrs (or so) or there will be legal consequences and they will take the dog again. If she has been seen by a vet recently bring those and they will release her. But be ready for the fines. Another way they will try and keep the dog is by adding crazy amounts in fines (after hr pick up, unnecessary shots, special boarding) that way it's to expensive for the owner to get them back so they release the animal to scraps. (After paying a $75 release fee)
Go to the humane society website, and you will be able to sign up for a position. They will contact you through email
Honestly, I'm not sure if it needs to be WA drivers license. I think any government issued ID from anywhere should be sufficient
They do not but there are many resources out there that I'm sure that they could turn you on to
You can take it to a vet or humane society and they can cremate them for you, but it does cost money, not sure how much.
Only food once a month. Only one person per household and your animals need to be fixed
Yes, under 16 needs an adult with them
You would have to call and make an appointment.
The humane society will cremate your animal for $30. If you're wanting the ashes back its $115
Patience, I suppose, or simply visit during business hours.
Not public dogs unless they are being spayed or neutered
Please always check the shelter website as it is always up to date on who is up for adoption.
Yes. Monday through Thursday with appointment
No fee but a donation is appreciated. You do have to call and make an appointment.
That's far too quick and unspecific a metric by which to decide to kill someone. Euthanizing an animal should be done when it poses a clear and distinct danger to others, not just because it's not as compliant to a stranger as you might like. Thats why no-kill shelters exist: to shelter animals from harm while a suitable match is found.
They are the greatest and will do anything in their power to help you out
Probably not, unless you surrender the animal to them--but I don't know for sure. It would be a good idea to call and ask. I've seen some people recommend Dr. Clark over at critter care (make sure you find the correct Dr Clark, as I think there's a people doctor with the same last name) for difficult situations like this. You can also apply for care credit, which works as a small loan that can be used for medical expenses including vet bills. Good luck!
Call Dr Clark spokane wa.care critters
I clean the litter box multiple times a day and I woke it down ever other day but i'm going to try using dirt thanks for the suggestion.
30 to put down
Don't know there cost
You should call them
U can post them on facebook to see if there is anyone that will take them
What is your question?
Scraps and i believe its still 25
First very sorry for your loss.We know how hard it is.I dont think Critters Care would charge $200 since the dog has already passed away. But he has to pay someone else for the cremation services which I think is close to $100.
Call animal control or police but not the 911 number
Ask your landlord. Or your nearest neighbors. See what they have to say.
$56 to spay, $36 to neuter. I don't know what the earliest age is, but the sooner the better.
It's very inexpensive but sometimes they have a bit of a wait they fill up quick.
I live near northtown mall by park I will look for him
You can also donate by going to the humane society and dropping off what you want to donate and they can make a receipt for you!
Yea, I used to volunteer in Colville, Walmart donated all open bags of food
Yes but you might consider trying to find a home for her on your own first. They have way too many cats there already :(
Do you have this dog in your possession? If so, take the dog to any of our three local shelters or any veterinarian to be scanned for a microchip. If no microchip is found, take the dog to the SCRAPS shelter on east Trent in Spokane. This will enable anyone looking for the dog to locate him/her. If tou cannot transport the dog, call SCRAPS and they will pick the stray dog up from you. Also post the found dog on Craigslist.
It is illegal to release red eared sliders in washington lakes or ponds, etc. They are non-native and are harmful to the native turtles habitat.
Theyll work with you. Call
Take them to SpokeAnimal
