My personal experience as an employee at Riverview has been great. I have a sense of family with my co-workers. I love that the staff can be a team within all of the departments and work together. There has recently been a change in management and in turn the overall environment/atmosphere. I love how amazing our residents are and how prideful they make me feel that I get to be apart of their daily lives. I have grown bonds with many of our residents and look forward to seeing them each day.

The staff are wonderful, but there are not enough nurses or aids. New management has been a problem for so many residents; quality has deteriorated significantly. My mother bought a condo there believing that she would have a place for the rest of her life, but now the Care Center will be closing at the end of May this year. This is a terrible betrayal of trust.

They were under staffed. Could take care of my mother when needed. We had to hire our own caretaker while in the facility. They made a family member sign a affadavit saying we wouldn't come aftet them. Then someone dropped her and nobody would admit to it. After that everything went downhill. She died within a couple of months. I would not recommend this place. The night shift was the only positive. This has been very difficult knowing a employee could not admit that they dropped her. I've struggled through the years getting over her death because of this. It has been a few years this happened. But I still struggle with this.

My parents moved into one of the row houses over a year ago and haven't had any complaints. What I love the most are the beautifully landscaped walking paths that wind throughout the complex. Also, the small cafe in the main building offers a decent variety of food, including espresso coffee, at super good prices.

To Jennifer Williams, a local guide. You gave them only 3*s. Dislike of long-term care facilities or an observation by you? Would you recommend it to me for my Mother/Father?

Thank you for both your candid and prompt answers. I have worked in 2 different long term care's and know good staffing is hard to keep. A lot of time its not the facility, but other staff members (or lack of). The work is very physical, but also very rewarding. I wish you luck with your family members and hopefully some understanding into the problems facing a critical and often thankless job

Are the duplexes out in the gated community for rent?

The section of the community that includes the duplex/fourplex units is not actually gated, but yes they are for rent. They make up the independent living section of Riverview which also includes an assisted living and full care area as well. The waiting list to get into the independent living units is usually pretty long.
