Thank you for both your candid and prompt answers. I have worked in 2 different long term care's and know good staffing is hard to keep. A lot of time its not the facility, but other staff members (or lack of). The work is very physical, but also very rewarding. I wish you luck with your family members and hopefully some understanding into the problems facing a critical and often thankless job
The simple, but sad truth of the matter is that facilities like Riverview can only ever maintain a certain level of staffing and that means that sometimes a request for help goes longer than anyone, including the staff, would like. My mother is also in the care center and for the most part, I have been very pleased with the care she's received and I know they try very hard to respond as quickly and appropriately as possible. It's unfortunate that there has been problems with Ms. Williams grandmother getting the level of care she needs and I hope her concerns are addressed very soon.
I just know that we've had a lot of problems with my grandmother being there. When she needs help in the restroom there's nobody to be found for 15 minutes plus. Also they've had a lot of trouble getting her the meds she needs. At one point she was having trouble breathing with all the smoke in the air that came into the building and they had the IV started yet they couldn't get the medication she needed from their Pharmacy they use so she ended up admitted to the hospital. The actual Assisted Living condos are very nice and I would highly recommend those. I'm referring to the actual Manor Care which is like a nursing home.
